Big battery formula has worked wonders for Gionee in India in the past, and the Chinese smartphone maker will be pushing its luck yet again with the Gionee M7 Power.
The M7 is a marathon-series phone that’s fueled by a generous 5000mAh battery. And perhaps, it’s the first Marathon-series phone that doesn’t feel cheap and inordinately bulky. Another major highlight of the handset is its 18:9 display that dominates the front.

Gionee M7 Power Hardware and Features
The 6-inch 18:9 display on the phone has 720p HD+ resolution. It isn’t super sharp but at least it won’t unduly tax the Snapdragon 435 octa-core chip powering the phone. Besides, we doubt that unsuspecting offline buyers who pick it from brick and mortar stores will find the screen resolution to be a deal breaker.
In fact, this is the first time Gionee is using a Snapdragon mobile platform in India. The SoC is paired with 4GB RAM and 64GB built-in storage. You can further add a MicroSD card, but the slot is hybrid.

For photography, the Gionee M7 includes a 13MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture lens and an 8MP front camera. The fingerprint sensor is mounted on the rear panel.
The Amigo 5.0 skin lends fingerprint sensor more gestures and functions. It also adds features like Private space and ability to keep not two but three of every app (overkill?).
The massive 5000mAh battery housed within pushes the weight to a modest 187 grams and the thickness to 8.6 grams. The handset also supports fast charging. In terms of connectivity, the Gionee M7 Power includes 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, and GPS.
Gionee M7 Power India Price, Offers, and Availability
The M7 Power will be available in three color options – Gold color with a laser-engraved finish, Black and Dark Blue colors with a laser-drilled finish. It will retail at all major offline partner stores and exclusively online on Amazon for Rs. 16,999 on November 25.
Gionee has partnered with Jio for extra 100GB data for M7 power users that they can avail over 10 recharges of Rs. 309 or higher till 30th September 2018.
