America-based wearable tech company Fitbit today announced a device called Alta HR, which is being considered as more of an upgrade to its Alta tracker, rather than a new product altogether.

The company claims the wrist-based device to be the world’s slimmest one for continuously tracking the heart rate.

Also, as per the company, it got several requests to add continuous heart rate tracking to the previous device, something which compelled the company to come out with the Alta HR.

Only the fourth such device from Fitbit to feature heart rate sensors, the Alta HR also features detailed sleep tracking data (which the company has named as Sleep Stages and Sleep Insight).

Sleep Stages helps in determining the time the user’s spends in light, deep and REM sleep as well as the time for which he/she is awake at night.

Sleep Insight, on the other hand, makes use of the entire data to guide the users to a better sleep, thereby improving their overall health.

The Alta HR also lets the users monitor real-time heart zones on their wrists and provides exercise summaries to let them review the situation.

The device will be up for pre-ordering at E-commerce site Amazon from 15th to 30th March and will be available on it for purchase starting 1st April.

As far as the other retailers are concerned, they will start selling the Alta HR from 16th April.
