Jio Cinema app has become a big player in the OTT space within a span of a few months. In April 2023, Reliance announced its big plans for the Jio Cinema app. Over 100 original movies and shows were announced, which intended to put Jio Cinema on the OTT Streaming Platforms Map, somewhere at par with Netflix, Prime Video & more. While earlier, Jio Cinema merged with OTT platform Voot, the latest news is that Jio has combined forces with Disney+Hotstar to become the biggest distribution company which will offer 70+ TV channels in 8 languages and a film studio. This merger also seems to be complete as we found the advertisements of Viacom 18 shows on the Hotstar app and some content of the Disney+Hotstar app is available on Jio Cinema as of now. This is one of the biggest mergers that has happened in a while.
