Microsoft has been soaring up in the smartphone world since the birth of Windows based smartphones, especially the Nokia Lumia series which has been lately acquired by Microsoft itself. Microsoft had also been in the headlines because of its software release of Cortana. Cortana’s features include being able to set reminders, recognize natural voice without the user having to input a predefined series of commands, and answer questions using information from Bing (like current weather and traffic conditions, sports scores, and biographies).
As per the latest reports by Reuters, Microsoft has announced the launch of Cortana for Android and iOS platforms. Cortana will now be available as an app for the smartphones running on these two platforms. Microsoft’s Eric Horvitz, managing director of Microsoft Research in an interview to Reuters said that the company is planning a major roll out of Cortana this fall, which will read and understand email. The more advanced version of Cortana, codenamed project Einstein will improve the awareness of Cortana and its ability to automate even more tasks, according to the report.
Cortana has been of real help for those who realize its purpose. It’s now awaited to experience the same on Android and iOS. Let’s see if this step by Microsoft can bring it the consequences that it desires.
