Auto Expo 2023: Dates, Timings, Ticket Prices, Participants, New launches & more

Auto Expo is back after a hiatus of 3 years. The Auto Expo 2023 will be held at 2 different venues- Auto Expo Component Show at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, and Auto Expo Motor Show, Greater Noida. It will be organized from January 11 to January 18. The first two days will be for media, while it will open for businesses on January 13 from 11 am to 7 pm. The event will open for the general public from January 14 to 18 from 11 am every day. The event will see participation from over 114 industry stakeholders with 48 new launches from vehicle manufacturers. Companies like Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Kia, Toyota, and more have already hinted about what they would showcase during the expo. Let us have a look at the ticket prices and expectations from various manufacturers.

Auto Expo 2023: Tickets

The ticket prices have been set at Rs. 750 for January 13. The price is Rs. 475 for January 14 and 15 while the cost is Rs. 350 for the last 3 days of the event. The tickets can be bought via BookMyShow.com

Maruti Suzuki at Auto Expo 2023

Like every year, Maruti Suzuki will have a sprawling pavilion at the auto expo wherein the brand will showcase as many as 16 vehicles, including new concepts, existing models, and more. The line-up includes the 5-door Jimny, Baleno SUV, new electric SUV, WagoneR Flex Fuel prototype, and customized versions of the Grand Vitara, XL6, Ciaz, Ertiga, Brezza, Baleno, and Swift.

1. Maruti YY8 Concept

This is an all-new fully electric SUV concept that will also give a look into the company’s EV plans for the future. It will be shown off on January 11 and is expected to go on sale by 2025. This new SUV will be built in partnership with Toyota and will be manufactured in Suzuki’s Gujarat plant for the domestic market as well as exports.

2. Five-Door Jimny

The 5-door Jimny will be shown off on January 12. It is an elongated version of the three-door Jimny and will go on sale by mid-2023. The car will have a 1.5-liter petrol engine mated to a manual or an automatic gearbox and will have an off-road ready 4×4 as standard.

3. Baleno Based coupe SUV

Baleno Based coupe SUV was initially codenamed YTB. It will be Maruti’s first all-new vehicle launch for 2023. The SUV will go on sale by March or April 2023 and will be the brand’s entry-level SUV offering for its Nexa outlets. It is said to mark the return of the 1.0-liter turbo petrol engine.

Hyundai Motors at Auto Expo 2023

Hyundai will have a slew of concept cars on display during the Auto Expo 2023. This year, the brand’s theme will focus on autonomous driving tech and electric vehicles.

1. Ioniq 5 EV

Ioniq 5 EV will launch tomorrow at the Auto Expo 2023. The EV will be constructed on the brand’s E-GMP platform and will have a range of safety and convenience features. The EV’s 125kW motor will be powered by a 58kWh battery pack, with a stated range of 384km on a single charge. 168bhp of power and 350Nm of maximum torque can be generated by a single motor in a rear-wheel drive system.

2. Ioniq 6

Hyundai will also bring its recently unveiled Ioniq 6 EV sedan during the Auto Expo 2023. Both Ioniq 5 and 6 shares Hyundai group’s E-GMP skateboard platform, which makes them born EVs, and this in turn allows for a more spacious cabin.

3. Nexo FCEV

Hyundai will showcase the Nexo Fuel cell EV SUV at the Expo 2023. Positioned as a mid-size SUV, the Nexo’s power is a fuel cell stack which means it is powered by Hydrogen. The 3 hydrogen tanks have a combined capacity of 156.6 liters, enabling a 666km range in the WLTP cycle. It can be topped in just 5 minutes and can be powered by a front-wheel mounted electric motor that makes the equivalent of 161hp and 395Nm.

4. Hyundai Ai3 Concept

The brand is also expected to show another concept previewing its future sub-compact SUV that will go on sale in the 2nd half of 2023. Codenamed Ai3 it will be a direct rival to the Tata Punch and Citroden C3.

5. Hyundai Creta Facelift

This is one of the most anticipated vehicles from Hyundai. A new design language based on the brand’s Sensuous Sportiness design language based will be used for the Creta facelift. The new Creta will come with new features with the addition of ADAS being one of the highlights.

6. Hyundai Verna Facelift

Hyundai has been testing the new version of Hyundai’s Verna.  A new design aesthetic and a new set of features will be featured on the new Verna. Inside out, the updated model will have a completely new appearance. The car will have a parametric jewel front grille similar to the Tucson and other recent vehicles. It will have a connected LED tail lamp at the back as well.

7. Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and Aura Facelift

Hyundai will showcase the facelift of the Grand i10 Nios and Aura. Minor design changes are expected inside and outside the cars and some new features might be added. The cars will get a new set of alloy wheels while engine specs will be the same.

8. Hyundai Casper

The brand is expected to showcase the Casper Compact SUV. It will have a quirky design aesthetic and will be loaded with features. The SUV will have a 1.2-liter turbo petrol motor for the higher trims, according to expectations.

Tata Motors at Auto Expo 2023

Tata Motors has teased the launch of Tata Altroz, Tata Safari, and Harrier EVs at the Auto Expo 2023. It will also launch Punch EV and concepts for Curvv and Avinya.

1. Tata Altroz EVs

This EV is expected to have a 30.2kWh lithium-ion battery pack with a better range than Nexon EV’s 312 km due to the lighter frame of Altroz. There is a permanent magnet synchronous motor delivering 129PS or power and 245Nm of peak torque. Battery charging speeds are also expected to get a boost.

2. Tata Safari & Tata Harrier EVs

Safari and Harrier will also be getting EV versions that may come with upgraded powertrain/battery options as compared to Nexon EV.

3. Tata Punch EV

The all-electric version will be based on the Sigma platform adopted by electrification. It will have a similar powertrain setup as Tata’s existing EVs and is said to cost around Rs. 1-1.5 lakh more than the top-end Punch AMT.

4. Curvv & Avinya Concepts

The Curvv concept is based on Gen 2 of the Nexon EV platform and previews a future midsize couple SUV set to go on sale by 2024. The Avinya is a grounds-up EV that uses Tata’s advanced Gen 3 architecture. It is a purpose-built EV that has its styling based on batteries and electric motors placed at far corners to maximise cabin room. It comes with a unique aroma diffuser for the cabin.

Toyota at Auto Expo 2023

1. Innova Hycross

Toyota’s showstopper at the expo 2023 will be the recently launched Innova Hycross. Multiple units will be on display as it is a new MPV from the ground up and features a petrol hybrid powertrain instead of diesel with a fuel efficiency of 23.2kpl. The new Hycross is larger, more stylish, and better equipped.

2. Land Cruiser 300

While this one is out of stock in the market, Toyota will display it to generate more public interest. The new Land Cruiser is based on the GA-F platform based on TNGA, while retaining the body on frame construction which is its USP. It has 2 engine options- a 3.5-liter turbo petrol and a 3.3-liter diesel.

3. GR Corolla Hatchback

This one is for performance enthusiasts. The GR Corolla uses a single scroll turbocharged GR Yaris with power hiked up to 304hp and torque boosted to 370Nm.

Toyota might also showcase the new Prius, the Mirai FCEV, and the Corolla flex-fuel hybrid during the Auto Expo 2023.

Kia at Auto Expo 2023

1. Next Gen Carnival (KA4)

The next-gen Carnival will be showcased 2 years after its international debut and will be diesel only. It has SUV-inspired styling, is larger than the predecessor, and has a long wheelbase and rear overhang for better space. The MPV comes with front seats, wireless phone charging, and ADAS tech.

2. EV9 Concept

Globally unveiled in November 2022, the EV9 will be an all-electric SUV as powerful as Range Rover. It has a rugged look with an air vent at the front, better aerodynamic efficiency, solar panels in the front duct, large 22-inch allow wheels, and more. It will be equipped with a 77.4kWh battery pack.

3. Sorento

4th generation Sorento will also be shown off. It is a large 3-row SUV that is powered by diesel, string hybrid, and plug-in hybrid.

MG Motors at Auto Expo 2023

MG will showcase 6 new cars at Auto Expo 2023.

1. MG City EV Concept

It is a radically styled two-door EV that will be placed as a premium commuter and is based on the Wuling Air EV. It measures 2.9 m in length and will be the smallest car on sale in India. It will come with features like two 10.25-inch screens connected to car tech, and an LPF cell battery with a range of 200-250km on a single charge. It will launch in 2023.

2. MG4 Electric Hatchback

This one is already on sale in some global markets and will come to India soon. It will come with 2 battery pack options delivering a WLTP range of up to 452km and measures 4287mm in length with a wheelbase of 2075mm.

3. Hector and Hector Plus facelift

The prices for the Hector and Hector plus will be unveiled at the Auto Expo 2023. These come with a new front-end design, new tail lamp assembly, revised dashboard, and a massive 14-inch touchscreen along with ADAS tech.

4. MG5 estate and MG6 sedan

These two will just be showcases to know consumer feedback. The MG5 is a carens-sized electric estate with a 61kWh battery pack and a range of 402km powered by a 156hp electric motor. It will be 5 seater.

MG6 Sedan is an oversized sedan with 169hp, a 1.5-liter petrol engine, and a 7-speed DCT gearbox.

BYD at Auto Expo 2023

1. Seal

BYD/Build Your Dreams is the EV-only brand from China that will showcase the all-new Seal for the first time in India at the auto expo. It has ocean-themed nomenclature with an all-glass roof, more space between the wheels, and Blade battery tech.

Lexus at Auto Expo 2023

1. LX500d

The Land cruiser 300-based Lexus LX will be showcased which is sold as 500d in India.

2. New-gen RX

The new RX is bigger and gets more of a coupe-like profile. It has a revised dashboard with a 14-inch touchscreen, upholstery of vegan leather, and a 245hp.

3. LC 500h

LC500h coupe with minor exterior and interior tweaks is also expected. The car will offer a 359hp, 5.5 liters V6 hybrid powertrain sans the V8 engine or convertible body.

Who’s not participating?

The brands which will not be a part of this year’s Auto Expo are Mahindra and Mahindra, Skoda, Nissan, Mercedes Benz, BMW, Audi, and Volkswagen.

World’s 1st Auto-Balancing E-Scooter by Liger Mobility

Liger Mobility has confirmed that it will showcase the world’s 1st auto balancing e-scooter during the Auto Expo 2023. Some images have surfaced which show that it will have a modern-retro theme with all LED lighting at the front and back. There will be multi-spoke wheels with telescopic suspension at the front, with features like a digital cluster with OTA updates, self-parking, ARSAS, leaner mode, reverse function, strong DRL integrated with the head unit, and more. The seat is wide so it would be comfortable to ride.

Startups showcasing Green Mobility at Auto Expo 2023

BLIVE, Corrit Electric, Devot Motors, Fujiyama Power Infra, Hexall Motors, Jupiter Electric Mobility, and Matter Motorworks are among the 20 participants this year.
