AI has been the talk of the town ever since the release of ChatGPT, Midjourney, and other AI models. Smartphone manufacturers took this as an opportunity and integrated AI features directly into the OS. A prime example of this Galaxy AI seen on Samsung’s latest smartphones.
Apple, one of the largest smartphone makers, couldn’t lag behind long enough. So, the company recently announced its suite of AI features called Apple Intelligence. These AI features are nothing that we haven’t seen before, but they’re now very well integrated into iOS 18.1.
In this post, we’ll compare two of the best AI suites available for smartphones—Apple Intelligence and Galaxy AI. We’ll compare everything from availability to the number of features and how well they are integrated. So, let’s jump right in.
Apple Intelligence vs. Galaxy AI: Availability
Apple Intelligence
Apple Intelligence is set to launch in beta with iOS 18.1 in October 2024. It will be available on Apple Silicon M series iPads, Macs, and a few iPhones, including the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max.
Oh, and users must join a waitlist for activation, which is expected to be available within hours after joining, though wait times may vary.
Apple Intelligence will initially be available in U.S. English, with support for additional English dialects and languages like Chinese, French, Japanese, and Spanish expected to roll out in 2025. There is no mention of Hindi or any Indian language just yet.
Also, users in the EU and mainland China won’t be available to enjoy the Apple Intelligence features due to jurisdictions and laws specific to those regions.
Galaxy AI
Galaxy AI is already available on several Samsung devices, including the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy S22 series, Galaxy Z Fold6/Fold5/Flip6/Flip5, Galaxy Tab S8 series, Galaxy Tab S9 series, and more. So, unlike Apple Intelligence, which is exclusive to newer models, Galaxy AI is available on devices both new and old.
Galaxy AI is available without the need for a waitlist, so anyone can start using these features right away. It’s also available in multiple languages and across all regions, including the EU and mainland China.
Apple Intelligence vs. Galaxy AI: Features
Both Apple Intelligence and Galaxy AI come with a ton of features that are sprinkled all over the user interface and the OS. Let’s discuss the most prominent ones.

You can even ask Gemini to tell you more about your screen where if it is a YouTube video, it can summarize the video for you.
Apple Intelligence vs. Galaxy AI: Privacy
Apple Intelligence
Apple Intelligence is more focused on on-device processing, so that sensitive data remains local and is not collected or stored externally. For complex tasks requiring more computational power, Apple uses something called Private Cloud Compute. This system processes only the data necessary for the task and does not retain or expose user data.
So, basically, Apple uses a dual-model architecture that balances on-device and cloud processing. The servers used for cloud computing are built on Apple silicon, which includes advanced security features like Secure Enclave and cryptographic verification to ensure data protection.
Apple also lets outside experts peek at the code on these cloud servers. You’re in control of your own data. As per Apple, it only connects to the cloud when it’s absolutely needed, and they make sure that your data stays off-limits, even to them.

Galaxy AI
Galaxy AI also splits tasks between your device and the cloud. Though Galaxy AI taps into cloud resources, it keeps privacy in mind, even if they’re not as upfront about the details as Apple. The upside? It’s available on more devices without the same regional restrictions, so more people worldwide can access it.
Apple Intelligence vs. Galaxy AI: Future Costs
Apple Intelligence
Even though it’s free at first, Apple will likely switch to a paid model for extra premium features down the road. Analysts think Apple might start charging between $10 and $20 per month for the advanced features of Apple Intelligence. They could even bundle it with Apple One, which already costs $19.95 a month.
Galaxy AI
Samsung has announced that Galaxy AI features will be free until at least the end of 2025, with a possible shift to a subscription model afterward. For now, all Galaxy AI features are accessible without any charges. Unfortunately, the exact future subscription cost remains unknown.
Conclusion
If you are in the Apple ecosystem, you’ll definitely appreciate Apple Intelligence on all your devices, including the iPad and the Mac. If you are a Samsung user, then you can still enjoy Galaxy AI features on older devices as well.
With so many similar and overlapping features, it’s hard to tell which one’s better among the two. Either way, these AI features, in my opinion, should not be a deciding factor in which phone you’ll buy. Both Apple Intelligence and Galaxy AI are good and work well.
