Amazon has finally released Alexa+ in India, and it’s not the same version available in the United States. The company has tweaked its most advanced AI assistant in collaboration with labs in Bangalore, Hyderabad, Pune, and Chennai. In other words, it is purpose-built around how people in the country actually communicate.

Amazon Alexa+: Pricing & Availability
For now, everyone gets Alexa+ for free. Early Access kicked off on September 16, 2026. You can check whether you’re eligible by visiting amazon.in/alexaplus. If you don’t want to wait, you can pick up a qualifying new Echo or Fire TV.
However, once the free window closes, Alexa+ will be available to Prime subscribers as part of their membership, while non-Prime subscribers will have to pay a hefty monthly fee. Given that a standard Amazon Prime membership costs ₹1,499 a year, Alexa+ looks like another reason that could compel buyers to sign up.

The Part That Actually Sets This Version Apart
Language is where the real work is. The Indian version of Alexa+ can switch between English, Hindi, and Hinglish in a single sentence. It can recognize and catch phrases with no direct English equivalent. That’s not just translation; it requires parsing Hinglish into English and then generating the right responses.
Alexa+ does more than simply respond to your queries. You can ask it to build a Diwali grocery list, send a note to your kid’s school, or match the living room lights to whatever’s playing, and it can handle all the multi-step tasks on its own. It already supports Atomberg, Qubo, Dreame, and Wipro for the smart home side, plus Sanjeev Kapoor Recipes, Amazon Music, Spotify, and JioSaavn for streaming.

Later, Alexa+ also plans to add services like EazyDiner, Swiggy, MakeMyTrip, and TripAdvisor.

Amazon’s Alexa+ arrives in India after Gemini Live, OpenAI’s ChatGPT Voice, and Apple’s Siri AI (not exactly in the same order). So, people haven’t already picked up their favorite AI-based voice assistant. However, for those who actually use Amazon’s Alexa or Fire TV devices on a day-to-day basis, Alexa+ could be a worthwhile addition to the Prime membership.
