Adobe Photoshop is one of the most popular editing apps for Windows as well as MacOS. Adobe keeps adding various AI-based new capabilities to its software products now and then. One of the most popular uses for AI is an AI image generator that can create an image with a text prompt. Adobe entered this arena with Photoshop and Generative Fill.
To make them even more powerful, Adobe has announced upgrades to the Adobe Firefly Image 3 model along with a new generate image feature. The updates were announced during a Max event in London. In a press release, Adobe claims that Firefly Image 3 will be able to create higher quality images compared to the previous model, with much more variety and details. Text prompts will also be understood better.

Adobe Firefly Image 3: About the model
Adobe claims higher-quality image generation, better understanding of prompts, new levels of details, and more styles to make content creation even more immersive for creators. Firefly has been trained on licensed content like Adobe Stock, along with public domain content. It has also been made to create content for commercial use without infringing copyrights and other IP rights. This is because Adobe offers IP indemnification for Firefly-generated content.
Firefly Image 3 will be included in the beta version of Photoshop and will include upgrades to Generative Fill AI editing features as well.
A list of all the new capabilities is given below-
- Reference Image– It will help creatives achieve the outputs they imagine by using user-selected images as generative inspiration.
- Generate background- This helps replace and create backgrounds which makes it simpler to create content seamlessly blending into existing images.
- Text to Image- Along with generating images, this lessens the distance between the blank page and good content, along with text-to-image capabilities within Photoshop for the first time.
- Generate similar- This lets creators iterate with variations they have chosen, to explore creation ideas more deeply and precisely.
- Enhance Detail- This capability fine-tunes images to improve sharpness and clarity.

Where can Firefly Image 3 be accessed?
As mentioned above, Firefly 3 can be found with a beta label today. It is also available in beta today and can be accessed on its official website. Free and paid plans from Adobe offer different amounts of Generative Credits that can be used by creators to make images they want to use.
Adobe has also announced new versions of Adobe Express mobile applications. These can be found with upgrades and include text effects, generative fill, etc.
