Google is reportedly working on a new model of the Chromecast with Google TV, a report by 9to5Google claims. This will be the 3rd addition to the Chromecast with Google TV line-up by Google which currently comes in 2 HD and 4K models. The new Chromecast might be called the ‘Pro’ model.

Chromecast Pro: Expectations

9to5Google dug into the source of the preview update for the Google Home App, looking for references to a new Google TV device, called the “YTC” and it is called a “Chromecast with Google TV” in the code. The earlier models were called “YTC” and “YTB” for the 4K and UHD variants.

The upcoming Chromecast might be a replacement for the original one with Google TV 4K that came out in 2020. Google might increase the internal storage on the upcoming Chromecast and also offer AV1 decoding, allowing for a higher-quality stream. As of now, there is no confirmation about the launch or specs of this new Chromecast, but Google might announce it at the I/O 2023.

Currently, Google Chromecast with Google TV HD is priced at Rs. 4355, and Chromecast with Google TV 4K is priced at Rs. 6387 in the country. Both these Chromecasts can be bought via Flipkart.
