2023 Hyundai Verna design leaks online in spy shots ahead of launch in March

0

Last week, Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) released official design renderings of the new-generation Verna, confirming a launch date of March 21. Shortly after, images of the sedan’s rear-end design were leaked on the internet. Now, for the first time, spy shots of the 2023 Verna have emerged, providing a full look at the car’s exterior styling.

The new Verna boasts a split-headlamp setup at the front, with a large radiator grille dominating the face and flanked by the main headlight unit. A full-width LED DRL strip divides the bonnet and front bumper, with the Hyundai emblem on the former. Moving to the sides, the sedan has strong character lines, especially on the rear doors, and sits on diamond-cut alloy wheels. A shark fin antenna complements the sloping roofline, and the inverted L-shaped tail lights are conjoined with an LED light bar on the rear, while the rear bumper features a dual-tone treatment. The India-spec model will feature ‘Verna’ badging on the boot lid.

The 2023 Verna will be available with two petrol engines, including the current 1.5-litre NA petrol motor producing 115 PS and 144 Nm, and a new 1.5-liter turbo petrol engine expected to deliver around 160 PS of maximum power and 253 Nm of peak torque. This new engine will replace the current 1.0-liter three-cylinder mill (120 PS/172 Nm) and make the Verna the most powerful sedan in its segment. Transmission options will include a 6-speed MT and an optional 7-speed DCT, and the car will not be offered with a diesel engine.

The new-gen Verna is expected to come equipped with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) such as Autonomous Emergency Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Lane-Keep Assist. Other features on offer may include an electric sunroof, a large infotainment screen with connected-car tech, a digital driver’s display, a powered driver’s seat, and ventilated front seats.
