Smartron has today launched its first Smartphone, the t.phone in India priced at 22,999 INR. Considering how hyper-competitive Indian smartphone market is, and taking into account short smartphone retail life cycles, it's always an uphill task for new entrants. Smartron, however, is betting on an India centric approach.
To start with, t.phone is powered by Snapdragon 810 V2.1 octa-core chipst which wasn't exactly a sensation in 2015, but still managed to be favored by many flagships. The SoC is further aided by 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. Smartron is also offering unlimited cloud storage space with every purchase.
Out of the box, t.phone will be running latest Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow software. There is a dual SIM card slot, but its hybrid, which means you would have to choose between secondary SIM card or secondary storage, which shouldn't be a problem since there is ample cloud and on-device storage available.
A 5.5-inch AMOLED display with FHD resolution dominates the front, and on the rear, you get to choose from various bright color options like bright orange, metallic pink, sea blue and classic grey. t.phone also includes a 13MP rear camera checking all boxes with with dual LED Flash, PDAF, 6P lens, f/2.0 aperture lens and also includes a 4MP front-facing camera with F2.0 aperture lens.
Other features include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (2.4GHz and 5GHz), Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, USB Type-C, and a 3000 mAh battery with fast charging support. The handset also includes 4 mic array for effective noise cancellation.
You will be able to buy t.phone from Smartron's own tstore and from Gadget360 for 22,999 INR starting early june.
