Nokia 7.1 Details
Nokia’s comeback with HMD Global is helping this Finnish company to gain its long-forgotten legacy back. Nokia is widely known for making elegant and stylish phones worldwide, and once again they are back to prove they are still in the game.
HMD Global launched Nokia 7.1, a mid-range smartphone, in October 2018 and its solid build quality with a premium look somehow attracted users towards it. This mid-range smartphone offers some great features including a full HDR10 display and Cameras powered by Zeiss optics at a very reasonable price. Let’s analyze it and see if it is worth buying.
Display and Build
Nokia 7.1 is fitted with a 5.84-inch IPS LCD screen and it offers PureView edge-to-edge display with a little notch on the top of the screen and a fingerprint sensor on the back. HMD global named Nokia 7.1 screen “PureDisplay” by adding HDR 10 support. The resolution of the screen is 2280x1080 px with 432 PPI to give you decent sharpness, and with HDR 10 supports you can enjoy better dynamic range and colors on supported content.
The build quality of the phone is pretty solid in this price segment. The phone has Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on front and rear, and side-by-side diamond-cut lining makes it look premium and easy to grip, but the phone is a tad slippery.
Camera and Configuration
The phone comes with a dual rear cam setup - a 12MP primary camera and 5MP secondary camera for depth control, and a single 8MP camera in the front. It is one of Nokia’s few midrange devices to be powered by Zeiss optics. The primary camera of the Nokia 7.1 is satisfactory in this price range, it snaps sharp images with great color details but it overexposes the shots a little, which you can choose to ignore or live with. It can record 4k and full HD videos at 30FPS and comes with EIS (Electronic Image Stabilization).
The phone employs octa-core Qualcomm snapdragon 636 chipsets to go through daily usage. It has 4GB of RAM and Adreno 509 GPU to handle graphics but if you’re looking to play high-end graphic games on this device then surely it’s not the best choice.
Battery and Storage
Nokia 7.1 is powered by an average 3060 mAh battery but it can run throughout the day without troubling you, and with the latest Android 10, now users will also benefit from AI- battery optimizations. it supports fast charging technology and comes with an 18W charger in the box.
Nokia 7.1 has an inbuilt storage of 64GB and 100GB of cloud storage as it comes under Google’s android one umbrella.
Connectivity
Nokia 7.1 has all the usual set of connectivity options. The phone supports dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Wi-Fi direct, Bluetooth5.0 LE (Low Energy) and NFC.
Closure
Nokia 7.1 runs on the latest Android 10. It is a decent, premium looking phone with a great display, and a fairly great camera powered by Zeiss optics. This phone is a good pick for streaming Netflix and Youtube videos in HDR. But it lacks on the performance and battery front - arguably the key parameters while judging a smartphone. Snapdragon 636 is not enough to please users looking for a gaming phone, also the small 3,060 mAh battery is a major let down. As for alternatives, you may look for Samsung Galaxy M30, Xiaomi MI A3, and Realme 5s in this price segment.
User Reviews

For me its an excellent buy
am using the phone for past two weeks, phone's backside is too slippery for the same u need a back cover. I didn't feel any lag in opening apps. Am not a serious gamer. Camera is decent with enough details in picture. Front camera struggles in low light a bit. For me its a great phone in terms of Style, Camera and branding
Highly recommended
