YouTube has been in the video streaming game for a long time and is also single-handedly ruling the industry. In 2018, the platform introduced the concept of premium subscription that included ad-free listening, background video play, and access to YouTube music. Not. only this, but the premium version of the application has a lot more to offer to the customers. In a recent update, it has been revealed that YouTube is now testing a 4K video playback addition to the premium tier.

Considering the current scenario, YouTube lets regular users watch videos on the platform at the highest available resolution with ads in the play. Reports suggest that the Google-owned video streaming platform will put an upper limit on the accessible resolution for all the users who don’t have a subscription. Until now, nothing has been confirmed officially regarding the conversion of the feature to premium.

Only a few posts on Reddit have pointed towards the same. If this happens for real, then the users will be allowed to watch videos on the platform at 1440p with ads without having a premium subscription. So, the users are supposed to take the information with a pinch of salt till the time an official confirmation is released.

What else is brewing?

YouTube is also testing to integrate 12 ads between YouTube videos which came as a shocker for the users. However, the company cleared its part by saying that these ads will be known as bumper ads and will not last for more than 6 seconds. It means that watching videos on the platform be a tougher task with more and more ads to encounter. You can purchase the subscription to YouTube Premium at a starting price of Rs 139 per month, and the yearly plan of the same can be purchased for Rs 1,290.
