Xiaomi, a Chinese giant, is much more than just a smartphone manufacturer. In fact, the company often claims to has one of the largest arsenals of IoT devices. Xiaomi has been selectively introducing its IoT devices in India, and latest to join in is Mi Home Security Camera Basic. The announcement was made on the offical twitter handle. Newly launched home security camera claims to offer “intelligent detection” along with “excellent security surveillance”.

Mi Home Security Camera Basic Features

These new security cameras could record videos at FHD 1080p resolution, up to 20 frames per second. They come with an ultra-wide angle that has a 130-degree angle for wider coverage along with native Infrared based night vision support. Speaking of coverage, they have a 10-meter range. This works thanks to the 10 large 940nm infrared dimming lamps that accommodates the night vision range.

Their real-time talkback feature facilitates video calls to monitor the surroundings and keep a 130-degree eye on the surroundings. Xiaomi also bets on the artificial intelligence-equipped motion detection feature in the software. This is nothing less compared out of the Chinese tech giant.

To use this you have to enable the intelligent motion detection feature in the app. Once enabled, the camera will send push notifications to the user whenever motion is detected. Interestingly, the smart algorithms allow the camera to filter false alarms caused by bugs, varying lighting conditions, and the curtain movements.

Within the Picture-in-Picture (PiP) mode of the application, you could surveil the security simultaneously with other things on their smartphone. For the while, PiP mode is not available on iOS. So, till then, Android which operates all MI phones supports this. If you have multiple security cameras then this extends the monitoring to multiple rooms, all on a single screen. If you were wondering, the camera does support microSD card as well as a NAS (Network-attached Storage) device to store the recorded footage.

Mi Home Security Camera Basic Pricing and Availability

The security camera is priced at a discounted rate of Rs 1,999 through the listing page while the original price is Rs 2,299. It goes on sale via Mi.com from tomorrow starting at 12 noon.
