Even as reports are flowing in daily regarding the newest addition to Xiaomi’s Redmi Pro collection of smartphones, a certain tentativeness still reigns supreme as far as the processor to be used in the said phone is concerned.

Erstwhile reports had pointed towards the use of a Snapdragon 660 chipset of Qualcomm make in the new Redmi Pro 2, along with the claims of the Chinese company favoring a single rear camera to the dual camera setup the original came with.

Refuting these, brand new reports have popped up, which say that the phone would tot a similar (dual rear) camera arrangement as its predecessor, which will most consist of two 12MP sensors.

For the processor bit, the Redmi Pro 2 would in fact be powered by an octa-core MediaTek’s Helio P25 chipset having one quartet of Cortex-A53 cores clocking in with a maximum frequency of 2.5GHz and the other one with a maximum limit of 1.6GHz.

Earlier, it was being claimed that the phone will have a Snapdragon 660, but for now, the MediaTek one seems to have taken over the mantle, which will also have an ARM Mali-T880MP4 GPU for support.

Just to keep you in the loop, the all new Redmi Pro 2 is likely to be unveiled within this month only, in two variants differing in RAMs as well as storage capacities (4GB and 64GB and 6GB and 128GB respectively).

Along with that, there is a 2.5D curved glass protecting the display, while an all-metal design will wrap the phone all around.

Coming to prices, the smaller variants will fetch a tentative price of around CNY 1,599 (approx. Rs. 15,280) with the bigger one asking for CNY 1,799 (approx. Rs. 17.200).

For the guaranteed bit on the release as well as the cost(s), we will have to wait for Xiaomi to say something, though.
