Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus Quick Review: Design and Display

The Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus has a flat display design complemented by a glass back and a plastic chassis. Talking about the rear panel, the smartphone has a camera island at the top left corner, and the Redmi branding at the bottom left. The colour of the camera island complements the colour of the rear panel. Moreover, the device is slightly curved at the back, which makes it easy to hold. The only drawback with the rear panel was that it was registering smudges easily.

Apart from that, the smartphone’s power button and volume rockers are situated at the right spine of the smartphone. Another major detail about the device is that Xiaomi has ditched the in-display fingerprint scanner. This time, we get the side-mounted fingerprint sensor doubled up with the power button.

As for the display, the Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus comes with a 6.67-inch Pro-AMOLED display coupled with a 120Hz refresh rate. For the protection of the panel, it comes with Gorilla Glass 5. Apart from that, the handset has 900 nits of peak brightness and can produce around 1.07 billion colours, and it also supports the DCI-P3 colour gamut. Not only this, but the upgrade your streaming experience, the smartphone also supports Dolby Vision, HDR10+, and Widevine L1 certification.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus Quick Review: Hardware and Software

Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus works on the MediaTek 1080 5G processor paired with 12GB RAM and 256GB internal storage in the high-end variant. To top it off, the smartphone operates on MIUI 13, based on the Android 12 operating system. It is a major turnoff for many users, considering that most of the competitors of, Xiaomi are launching phones with the Android 13 operating system.

As claimed by Xiaomi, the Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus will get two years of Android updates and four years of security updates. No doubt the time frame for support is more than enough. The most amazing part about the device is that it is free of Ads (bloatware still exists, though) which is a big relief for people who want mid-range smartphones. The device’s operations were smooth, and we could easily run multiple applications, games, and other stuff on the phone. We will discuss it in more detail in our Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus review.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus Camera

In terms of optics, the Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus features a triple rear camera system including 200MP primary shooter, 8MP ultra wide-angle shooter, and a 2MP macro shooter. The primary shooter of the phone also has Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) for both photographs and videos. The smartphone delivers good photographs in low light and daylight in the initial tests.

For the sake of selfies and video calls, the smartphone flaunts a 13MP front snapper. We can confidently say that the selfie camera’s performance was above average. However, we will test it more and share the exact details in our complete review.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus Quick Review: Battery

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus draws power from a 4980mAh battery along with 120W fast charging support. At the time of testing, the handset got charged from zero to 100% in 20 minutes and a few seconds, which is insane. One thing which we are sure of is that the users will only be supposed to invest a little bit of time in charging their devices. Another important point is that the charger of the device comes bundled with a box.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus first impressions:

Keeping in mind that we got to use the phone only for a limited time until now, we will refrain from giving a strong opinion on the features of the smartphone. However, according to the first impressions, the device passed with flying colours with its fast-paced performance and neat design. Further in our detailed review, we will discuss the device’s pros and cons based on its thorough testing.
