Xiaomi Launches PM2.5 Air Pollution Mask With A Rechargeable Battery

Xiaomi, which is already seeing a surge in demand for its Air purifiers in India, has also launched a crowdfunded Pollution mask, Cloth Pear Fresh Air, with a rechargeable Air filter that can eliminate up to 99 percent of the PM2.5 particulate matter.

PM2.5 refers to fine, hazardous particulate matter that is 2.5-micrometer or bigger in size. Most of the quality and reasonably priced pollution masks available in India target PM2.5 particulate matter.

Xiaomi’s hand woven Cloth Pear Fresh Air Mask is made from high-fiber textile and weighs just 50.5 grams.

The Air filter attached to one side has a polymer lithium-ion battery, home-grown ultra-thin fan and a removable N95 cartridge that you can easily replace on your own. You can choose between three fan speeds or turn it off when not in use. The battery takes about 3 to 4 hours to charge completely and can power the filter through 4 to 8 hours of use.

The Cloth Pear Fresh Air mask is listed on Xiaomi’s crowd funding site for CNY 89 (Approx 870 INR). All those who back the project will get it by December 20.

Xiaomi has no plans for selling this commercially just yet.
