We were expecting official confirmation any day, and the same has arrived. Soon after teasing the Redmi 6-series on social media handles, Xiaomi has begun rolling out invites for their India launch. The Redmi 6A, 6, and 6 Pro will go official in India on September 5.
The social media teaser refers to the three as ‘Desh ke naye smartphones’. This is a similar tagline that Xiaomi used to promote Redmi 5A last year and alludes to the affordable nature of these upcoming phone. The Redmi 5A indeed went on to become the best selling phone in India, and the 6-series will try to match up the same value.

Speaking of chipsets, Xiaomi will be using MediaTek chips in India after a long time. The Redmi 6A and Redmi 6 will be powered by MediaTek Helio A22 and Helio P22, respectively. These are new MediaTek chipsets that aim to bring AI to entry-grade phones. Both the Redmi 6 and 6A have similar design and hardware.
