Xiaomi has scheduled an event on November 2 in New Delhi, where it will introduce a “new series” of Xiaomi smartphones. The news was confirmed by the media invite sent by the Xiaomi, which reads “A new series is coming” with a lightning bolt icon.

The information on what will be on the cards has not been cleared but a tweet by the company’s VP, Manu Jain, confirms a selfie-centric budget smartphone by Xiaomi.

The rumors surrounding the event suggest that the new series could come with a fast charging support, as seen in Mi Note 3, and is equipped with a 16 MP selfie snapper with 2.0 µm pixel size.

If the so-called “new series” is a budget smartphone then the odds are that it could be a rebranded variant of Redmi Note 5A that was recently launched in China and offers the fast charging support at a pocket-friendly price. However, the possibility of this happening is very bleak.

We will have to wait till the launch to know for sure. But as of now, these two features – selfie and fast charging – are the only ones missing on Xiaomi’s array of budget phones.

Some are also pointing to the fact that the invite could be for the global launch of MIUI 9, which was released in the beta form in August. The latest version of Mi’s custom Android skin has a similar lightning icon. The MIUI 9 Global Stable ROM is expected to start rolling out as soon as the first week of November.
