A slew of leaks regarding the arrival of the Xiaomi 12 lineup as well as the global launch of the Redmi Note 11 series is doing rounds. The latter will come with Qualcomm silicon and a different design. However, Xiaomi is yet to officially make any announcements for these two smartphone series. In any case, let’s discuss what rumors have to tell.

Xiaomi 12 series details

The leak about Xiaomi 12 comes from the popular leakster Digital Chat Station on the Weibo platform. The tipster strongly believes the China launch of the device in December post the Qualcomm event that is scheduled for November 30. This is so because the source claims that Xiaomi 12 will be equipped with the upcoming Snapdragon flagship chipset, likely called Snapdragon 898.

As for other specs, Xiaomi is anticipated to launch the flagship device boasting triplet rear cameras which may include a 50MP Samsung GN5 sensor coupled with a 50MP ultrawide as well as a 50MP telephoto. The list of big specs doesn’t end there as Xiaomi 12 is also expected to ship with a 100W fast charger ditching the predecessor’s 120W support (Xiaomi Mi 11x review).

Redmi Note 11 series details

The piece of information about Redmi Note 11 appeared on a Vietnamese website named The Pixel which reports the possible change of design and processor compared to the Chinese version of Note 11. The smartphone maker has unveiled the Redmi Note 11 in its home country with MediaTek Dimensity SoCs. And well, the source claims that the brand will switch to Qualcomm chipsets for the global market.

Although the reason for this isn’t spilled by the aforementioned Vietnamese site, another tipster through Twitter has alluded to a possible MediaTek chip shortage with Xiaomi as the cause. Furthermore, the global variants of the Note 11 phones are suggested to ship with Snapdragon 778G Plus and Snapdragon 695 chipsets instead.

Redmi Note 11 is also reported to first debut in Vietnam in the early days of January 2021. The phone could subsequently launch in other markets. Meanwhile, it is also believed that the Snapdragon version could land in China with another name.

All that said, we reckon it is wise to wait for an official confirmation before actually relying on all this information since it’s too early to tell if they are true.
