Xech has launched a new massager called the Cerebro Head & Eye Massager that aims to offer relaxation from pain relief after a long day. Cerebro is a multifunctional massager that claims to target not only the head but other adjoining areas like the eyes, neck, and forehead as well. The company claims that they have made the newly launched product better than the previous massager that they launched by introducing a see-through visor, Bluetooth connectivity, the ability to accept and end calls, and infrared light for hair growth. If we look at the specs, it looks like an ideal product for health but does it fare that well when used in everyday life? Let’s find out.

Xech Cerebro Head Massager Review: Design and Fit

Xech has equipped Cerebro Head Massager with a unique design. The head, eye, and neck massager has a futuristic helmet-style design that has to be slipped over your head from the top. It is like a helmet that is worn while driving two-wheelers.

At the front of the massager is an LED panel that has two push buttons and options for Bluetooth connectivity, and power on and off. There are indicators for 4 massage modes, battery and charging and Bluetooth connectivity. Long pressing the first button will switch the device on and off and short pressing it will change modes between various kinds of massages. When you want to connect your device to the massager, press the 2nd button which can also be pressed to change music tracks or receive calls. While charging, the battery indicator keeps blinking red. It is a simple yet adequate LED panel located at the front of the massager.

Beside the panel is the see-through visor that allows you to stay connected with your surroundings while taking a massage. Xech claims that they have introduced this visor as its consumers had complained about the same. Though a see-through visor does allow you to look at what’s happening around you and you can even look at your phone, it is not a very easy or impressive experience. I had to concentrate really hard to look at the display of my phone and once when I had to walk a few steps wearing the massager, it was tough as there was no proper visibility. This was partly due to the visor not being effective and partly because I wear spectacles. There is no provision for people who wear specs. I wear specs and my power is also on the higher side so it was tough for me to understand anything from inside the massager.

Inside the massager, there is a soft cushion for the eyes, forehead as well as the neck areas. This was good as it made sure that one didn’t feel uncomfortable during the massage. Xech claims that the head size adjustment knob at the back will help you get a perfect fit, but that didn’t work for me. Since my head size is slightly larger, the massager felt tight when I slipped it over my head. No matter how much I tried adjusting with the knob, there was hardly any change. Moreover, one more problem that arises, specifically for women is that if your hair is in a ponytail or a bun, the massager won’t fit comfortably. This was also the reason it felt tight on my head and when I slipped out of it, my hair had been ruined. Due to the tight fit, there were pressure marks on the top of my nose as well.

This is something Xech should look into as their product feels like it is more apt for men in terms of design and fit. Its weight of 1.1 kg also made it feel heavy over my head.

The top side has a height-adjustable knob which was also not very effective. The back side has a USB-C port for charging purposes.

Xech Cerebro Head Massager Review: Connectivity

As mentioned above, the LED panel has 2 buttons and 5 indicator lights. The first button can be used to turn the massager on and off by long pressing it. Short pressing it will switch modes.

The 2nd button which is a Bluetooth button can be used for a variety of purposes. Double pressing this button can change music tracks. Pairing your device with a head massager would need you to long press this button. Just make sure the device you want to connect has its Bluetooth turned on. Your smartphone’s Bluetooth setting will show ‘Xech Cerebro’ and tapping on it will establish a Bluetooth connection.

Once this is done, you can play whatever you like from your device during massage. Also, answering and rejecting calls has been made possible. To answer a call, short press the 2nd (Bluetooth) button, to end a call short press it again whereas to reject a call, double press the Bluetooth button.

Bluetooth connectivity was quite seamless on the massager.

Xech Cerebro Head Massager Review: Performance & EFFECTIVENESS

While it is mainly a head massager Xech has targeted areas like the forehead, under eyes, eyebrows, temples, and backside of the neck as well as with head. When I first put on this massager, it began with ‘Relax Mode’ and all I felt was moderate pressure and light heating around my eyes, forehead, and neck. No matter how much I adjusted the height, the main focus area, the top of the head did not feel like it was getting massaged. I felt more effect on the eyes, forehead, temples, and neck than on top of the head.

Let us talk about the other 3 massage modes that are available. The 2nd one was Rejuvenate Mode, wherein the pressure felt is much stronger than Relax Mode. Also, the overhead red infrared light is switched on which is claimed to help with hair growth (especially in men). The Sleep mode is the lightest, in which mild pressure is applied which can be useful to lull you to sleep if you are tired after a long day.

The 4th one is the Dynamic Mode which includes maximum pressure along with vibration at the back of the head. This mode can be useful for those who have neck pain as vibration helps with healing in some cases. Otherwise, the pressure applied by this mode might be too much to be endured in some cases. For example, I have migraine issues and the affected area is the temples of my forehead, so for me, this mode aggravated my condition due to immense pressure. Sleep and Relax modes were most suitable for me. This is subjective and the which massage suits you the most depends on your needs. One massage cycle lasts 15 minutes which is a decent time duration.

Whatever function you perform, you hear the mode you have switched to and also hear when the charge cycle gets completed.

All in all, Xech Cerebro Massager is effective less on your head and more on adjoining areas like the forehead, temples, eyes, and backside of your neck.

Xech Cerebro Head Massager Review: Battery Life and Charging

Xech Cerebro Massager is a battery-operated device that comes with a USB-C port for charging. The massager can be charged with any smartphone charger that you have at home which is good as you don’t need to buy or carry a separate charger for this device.

Charging it from 0 to 100% takes about 1.5 hours and after it is completely charged, it gives 5 massage cycles of 15 minutes each. The stats given by Xech are almost true as every time a massage cycle is completed, the battery is depleted by 18-20%. 5 massage cycles with one round of charging is decent, and charging time is acceptable as well if you have to charge it after 3-4 days.

Review Verdict: Should you buy Xech Cerebro Head Massager?

Cerebro by Xech is a wellness product that ticks some boxes while others do not. The massager comes with seamless Bluetooth connectivity, the ability to receive, end, and reject calls, USB-C type charging, and a good battery life. However, the product lacks in the most important area, effectiveness. The job of a head massager is to relieve stress and offer relief from pain but Cerebro wasn’t much useless in this regard. It is effective around the eyes, forehead, temple areas, and back of the neck, but not so much at the top of the head. Moreover, the build makes it feel heavy and the design is not very comfortable for women users. Overall the performance of Cerebro Head Massager doesn’t justify the price tag. If you need a massager for other target areas than the top of the head and feel comfortable using a helmet-style device, Cerebro can be your choice.

Reasons to buy

  • USB-C charging
  • Seamless Bluetooth connectivity
  • Various massage modes

Reasons to not buy

  • Not effective on top of the head
  • Design not suitable for women
  • Feels bulky
