The Taiwan-based consumer electronics company ASUS will soon reveal the next-generation gaming smartphones as part of the ROG Phone 8 series. Ahead of the launch, the company has confirmed the extent of water resistance the upcoming series will feature.
ROG Phone 8 Series To Come With IP68 Rating
According to an official post from the company’s Weibo account, the ASUS ROG Phone 8 series will feature IP68 water and dust resistance. This means that the phone should be completely resistant to the ingress of dust and withstand any damage due to submersion in water for a limited time. However, the company hasn’t revealed the specifics, such as the maximum time the phone can withstand damage due to moisture.
As a standard, most flagships in 2023 have been released with an IP68 water and dust resistance rating. The list includes the Samsung Galaxy S23, Google Pixel 8, and Apple iPhone 15 series. In fact, flagships have stuck with an IP68 rating for quite some years now.

Further, there appears to be the lineup’s mascot, with RGB lighting, toward the bottom. Other than this, leaked renders suggest the smartphone has a punch-hole cutout and a bezel-less display with a slightly thick chin at the bottom.
