TL; DR
  • WhatsApp is developing a Scheduled Messages feature that lets users write a message now and send it automatically later.
  • This should work in both individual and group chats and store pending messages in a dedicated Scheduled Messages section inside chat info.
  • The feature appeared in iOS beta 26.7.10.72, though it is still under development and not yet available to testers.

WhatsApp appears to be working on a long-requested feature that would allow users to schedule messages in advance. Details discovered in a recent iOS beta build show early work on a system where a message can be written ahead of time and delivered automatically at a specific moment.

The feature surfaced in iOS beta version 26.7.10.72. It has not been released to beta users yet, though the interface and related code already exist inside the app. The system appears designed to handle scheduled messages directly within chats without requiring third-party tools.

Based on the current implementation, the process looks straightforward. A user writes a message as usual, which can include text, emojis, media, or maybe even voice notes.

A scheduling option then allows the user to select an exact date and time using a calendar and clock picker. After confirmation, the message moves to a new Scheduled Messages section inside the chat’s info page.

The feature is expected to support both one-on-one chats and group conversations (although the screenshot only shows group chats). That opens up practical uses such as birthday messages, reminders for teams, announcements in large communities, or conversations across time zones.

At the moment, the feature remains under development and could still change before release. WhatsApp frequently tests new tools internally before deciding whether to ship them publicly. There have also been no sightings in Android builds yet, though major features usually expand across platforms.
