As we inch closer to the Made by Google launch event in August, details about the new Pixel lineup and other features keep showing up on the internet. The latest piece of information is about Galaxy AI, the rebranded version of all the AI-based features on Pixel smartphones. Check out more details about Google AI below.

According to a report by Android Authority, Google could launch a new set of “ML features” as Google AI, similar to Samsung’s Galaxy AI. As the name suggests, Google AI will consist of several new/existing GenAI features, including Circle to Search, a visual lookup feature already available on several Google and Samsung branded smartphones. Further, it will also include Gemini, Alphabet’s AT chatbot.

Google AI To Include Add Me For Including Users In Group Photos

However, the report also mentions three completely new features, the first of which is Add Me. While there’s not much information about the feature, the report contains a screenshot with a one-line description that says, “Make sure everyone’s included in a group photo.” From what it sounds like, the feature will use AI to add users to a group picture. If that’s true, Add Me is like an upgraded version of Best Take, a feature that can change everyone’s expression in a group shot.

Screenshots Will Help Users Gather Information In A New Way

Then there’s another feature called Screenshots, whose description mentions getting the info users need from their screenshots. This could imply that the AI-based feature will be able to analyze and fetch details from screenshots. For instance, it might help users keep track of their bills or messages. However, there’s more to it than it than that. Using machine learning, the Pixel Screenshots will be able to process details and create a searchable library to help users find anything related to their screenshots.

Essentially, Galaxy AI will summarize users’ new and existing screenshots and create a database. Then, it would scan the database for the words entered by the user to bring back the relevant response. When the feature is enabled, new screenshots will save some data like web links, app names, and timestamps. However, the feature will require users to provide access to their media files. What’s good is that users can turn the Pixel Screenshots feature off at any time.

In a way, the Pixel Screenshots feature is similar to Microsoft’s Recall feature. For those catching up, the new Windows 11 feature captures screenshots every couple of seconds, processes the data, and uses AI to let the user go through everything they did on their computer. While the feature could be useful, especially since it allows users to go through their activity, it could pose a serious privacy threat, something we’ve explained in our Windows Recall explained post.

Galaxy AI’s Studio Could Help Users Generate Images And Stickers

The third and the last feature in Galaxy AI, Studio, will be more like an AI-based image and sticker generator. Given that Apple has announced the Image Playground that lets users create images using text prompts, there’s a good chance that Galaxy AI’s Studio will also enable users to do the same. While all the features could debut with the Pixel 9 in August 2024, some of them might make their way to other Pixel devices, like the Pixel 8 lineup.

Usually, Google launches new Pixel products in an annual event that takes place in October. However, this year, the annual Pixel hardware launch will take place in August. At the event, Google could launch three new Pixel smartphones, including the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, and the all-new Pixel 9 Pro XL. Apart from the Pixel smartphones, the company could unveil the Pixel Fold 2, Pixel Watch 3, and new advancements in Android and Google AI.
