Vivo’s APEX Concept Phone Could Go Official on March 5

Vivo’s concept phone APEX was a head turner at MWC 2018 and the good news is that it could soon go into production.  If reports are true, Vivo could launch the APEX smartphone At the Hangzhou Institute on March 5. What left all in awe was its truly bezel-less design with a whopping 98-percent screen-to-body ratio. Other distinguishing features include a pop-up selfie camera and in-screen fingerprint sensor.

The launch event banner has gone viral on the internet which suggests Vivo is hosting an event on March 5. Though the name of the device isn’t mentioned on the banner, industry insiders have been suggesting that Vivo Apex is the one Vivo will be unleashing.

What’s so special about Vivo APEX phone?

Well, for the start Vivo Apex comes with the extremely narrow bezel on the three sides of the display measuring 1.8mm while it has 4.3mm chin. Vivo has removed the camera sensor front the forehead. The APEX smartphone flaunts a flexible OLED on the front which is mounted directly to the flexible circuit board.

Like Vivo X20 Plus, the APEX phone also features in-screen fingerprint sensor which covers almost entire lower half. Benefits of the larger in-screen fingerprint are the ease of use, two-finger authentication, and few others.

There is practically no space to mount a selfie camera on top of the display and so Vivo has added a self-retracting front camera. It pops up as you tap on for selfie camera in the default app. Instead of an earpiece, Vivo has used a Screen SoundCasting Technology which basically vibrates the screen to produce a sound similar to a speaker.

Not much is known about the performance hardware on the Apex as of now. The Vivo Apex flaunts a 5.99-inch display and 8-megapixel shooter for both rear and selfies. It is also possible that Vivo showcases APEX phone and announces a future date for when it will actually hit mass production.
