Vivo X80 Series launched in the global market: India launch confirmed

The much-awaited Vivo X80 Series has finally launched in the global market after having its China launch a few days ago. The flagship series consists of 2 devices- Vivo X80 and Vivo X80 Pro. The industry-leading flagship series comes with several firsts in terms of specs.

Vivo X80 Specs

The Vivo X80 sports a curved AMOLED display at the front and a flat glass back panel with a rectangular ceramic camera island on top. It is a 6.78-inch FHD+ E5 Samsung AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, 1000 Nits brightness, and 100% DCI-P3 color gamut.

Vivo X80 is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 9000 chipset with 12GB LPDDR5 RAM which is expandable by up to 4GB and 256GB UFS 3.1 storage capacity. The smartphone packs a 4500mAh battery with 80W fast charging which claims to charge from 0 to 100% in 34 minutes.

In terms of camera specs, Vivo X80 has a triple camera setup on the rear end. It includes Sony’s 50MP IMX866 sensor with f/1.75 aperture, OIS, and RGBW color arrangement. Along with it are a 12MP ultrawide angle lens and a 12MP telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom. Vivo has continued its partnership with Zeiss for Zeiss T coating on cameras to reduce ghosting and stray light. Vivo has also added its own ISP Vivo V1+ to improve camera quality.

Additionally, Vivo X80 has a linear X-axis haptic motor and dual top bottom firing stereo speakers. It runs Android 12 with Funtouch OS 12 and weighs 206 grams.

Vivo X80 Pro Specs

The Vivo X80 Pro features a similar design curved AMOLED panel at the front, a flat matte glass panel at the back, and is rated for IP68 water and dust resistance. It is a 6.78-inch 2K LTPO E5 Samsung panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, 1500 nits brightness, 10-bit color, and HDR10+ content.

The X80 Pro is powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset with 12GB LPDDR5 RAM (expandable up to 4GB) and 256GB UFS 3.1 storage. It packs a 4700mAh battery with 80W fast charging and 50W Vivo Flash charge wireless charging.

In the camera department, X80 Pro is equipped with Vivo V1+ ISP and a quad camera setup on the rear end. The rear setup includes a 50MP ultra-sensing Samsung GNV sensor with OIS, a 48MP ultrawide angle sensor (Sony IMX598), a 12MP telephoto lens, and an 8MP periscope lens with 5x optical zoom and 60x hybrid zoom. All lenses are coated by Zeiss T coating for better photo quality.

The Vivo X80 Pro runs Android 12 with Fun Touch OS 12 out of the box and has an X-axis linear motor and dual top-bottom firing stereo speakers.

Vivo X80 Series: Global Pricing and Colors

The Vivo X80 comes in 2 colors- Cosmic Black and Urban Blue whereas Vivo X80 Pro comes in Cosmic Black color only. The Vivo X80 starts from 800 USD whereas Vivo 80 Pro starts from 1144 USD. Both are up for pre-order currently and will come with free gifts and a 2-year local manufacturer warranty.

Vivo X80 Series Indian Launch Confirmed

The Vivo X80 Series is launching in India on May 18 at 12 noon IST. Reports claim that Vivo is ditching its marquee orange color variant in India this time. Vivo X80 is expected to come in 8GB/128GB and 12GB/256GB configurations while the X80 Pro will come in a single 12GB/256GB variant. Pricing and more details will start surfacing soon as the launch date is not really far.
