It’s official. The Vivo X100 series has arrived in China. Powered by the latest Dimensity 9300 SoC, the series sports an 8T LTPO panel boasting a brightness of 3,000 nits. It hosts first-ever ZEISS APO-certified camera lens on a mobile device. Here’s everything you need to know about Vivo X100 and Vivo X100 Pro as they gear up to go on sale on November 21 in China.
Vivo X100 Series Pricing and Availability
Vivo X100 and X100 Pro are available in four colorways – Orange, Blue, White, and Black. The vanilla Vivo X100 fetches a price tag of CNY 3,999 ($548) for the base 12GB/256GB while the higher 16GB LPDDR5T plus 1TB variant retails for CNY 5,099 ($700). Similarly, Vivo X100 Pro is priced at CNY 4,999 ($685) and CNY 5,999 ($823), respectively. The phones go on sale in China on November 21 but their international availability is not yet revealed.
Vivo X100 Series: Design & Display
Crafted with attention to details, Vivo X100 series brings sandwich design with glass front and back. On the front, you’ll see a punch-hole cut-out that maximizes screen real estate while the curved display minimizes visible bezels.
Flip the phone and you get to see a giant circular camera bump that almost takes the top half of the back plate. In fact, it looks way larger than X90 Pro. It protrudes a bit above the back panel as it houses one of the most sophisticated camera assemblies out there. You can see Vivo and Zeiss branding on the back panel along with other inscriptions around a thick circular ring that wraps the entire camera island.
Vivo X100 series uses a giant 6.78” 8T LTPO AMOLED panel boasting 1260p resolution, 10-bit colors, and a 1-120Hz refresh rate with it. The display can reach a whopping 3,000 nits of peak brightness. There’s 2,160Hz PWM dimming made for eye protection.
Vivo X100 Series: Performance
Vivo X100 series has arrived packing in MediaTek Dimensity 9300 SoC. This makes the series first to pick up this flagship chipset which stands strong against Snapdragon’s flagship scoring an impressive 2.2million points on AnTuTu in previously leaked listing.
The chipset has AI capabilities including AI photography. It is because AI has become a norm on smartphones with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, Samsung’s Exynos 2400, and Apple’s A17 Pro built on leveraging the budding tech.
Vivo has used up to 16GB of LPDDR5T RAM alongside up to 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage. Vivo’s OriginOS 4 for China handles the software part. It is based on Android 14. Once the phone gears up for its global launch, it will commence using FuntouchOS iteration based on Android 14 instead.
Vivo X100 Series: Camera
Vivo X100 Pro uses a triple rear camera setup. The primary is a 50MP Sony IMX989 1-inch sensor. The secondary cam is a 50MP ZEISS APO-certified telephoto lens, the world’s first on mobile, capable of correcting zoom lenses that align RGB colors in the same focus plane to maximum clarity. There’s a floating periscope module onboard with a 100mm equivalent focal length, f/2.57 aperture, and an optical zoom of 4.3x. You can achieve up to 100x digital zoom on the Pro.
Finally, the third 50MP sensor is a 15mm equivalent ultrawide lens. All three sensors are coated with a T* lens from Zeiss that reduces 50% of reflectivity compared to the likes of the Vivo X90 series.
Vivo X100, on the other hand, uses a custom-made 50MP Sony IMX920 primary sensor plus a 64MP telephoto snapper with 3x zoom and OIS. X100 has a triple camera setup too which means it uses the same 50MP 15mm equivalent ultrawide lens as that of X100 Pro. Again, all three cameras are coated with T* by Zeiss which has its pros including reduced reflectivity.
Vivo X100 Series: Battery & Features
Vivo X100 uses a modest 5,000mAh battery (still larger than many of its competition) paired with 120W fast charging. The Pro uses a slightly larger 5,400mAh battery with 50W wireless and 100W wired charging tech. Other features that are part of both Vivo X100 and X100 Pro are IP68 rating, IR blaster, Bluetooth v5.4, and Wi-Fi 7 to name a few. Its under-the-display fingerprint scanner takes care of the biometrics.
