Extending its entry-level 5G portfolio in India, the Chinese manufacturer vivo has launched a new smartphone: the vivo T4x. Taking the baton from the T3x launched last year, the T4x offers a blend of usability and affordability. Starting from Rs. 13,999, the phone offers adequate performance, a dual-camera setup, and a smooth 120Hz display. However, it is the massive battery that separates the phone from others in the segment.

The vivo T4x, much like any other handset in the segment, features a punch-hole screen and a broader bottom chin at the front. On the back, the phone features a rectangular camera module with two camera sensors, one LED flash module, and a circular Aura Light.

Regarding durability, the phone has an IP64 dust and water resistance rating. It also complies with MIL-STD-810H military-grade standards.

Out of the box, the vivo T4x ships with a 6.72-inch LCD FHD+ screen (2408 x 1080 pixels) that supports 120Hz refresh rate and can achieve up to 1050 nits of peak brightness.

Under the hood, the handset features the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 (4nm) chipset with Mali-G615 MC2 GPU, up to 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM, and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. For those wondering, the chipset scores around 1058/3025 points in the GeelBench 6 CPU performance test.

The vivo T4x runs on Funtouch OS 15 based on Android 15, and the company has promised to provide two years of major Android updates and three years of security patches for the device. Although the software support is decent, it isn’t as good as certain Samsung handsets.

The company also packs a couple of GenAI features like Live Text, Circle to Search, and AI Screen Translation.

On the back, the phone houses two camera sensors: a 50MP (f/1.8) primary sensor and a 2MP (f/2.4) depth sensor. For capturing selfies and attending video calls, the phone has an 8MP (f/2.05) front-facing camera. A circular Aura Light ring accompanies the cameras.

For those concerned about video recording, users can capture footage in 4K 30fps. With the capable primary camera, the phone also features certain AI-driven features, like AI Erase, AI Photo Enhance, AI Document Mode, and a dedicated Night Mode for capturing more details in low-lighting conditions.

Regarding battery life, the phone features a massive 6,500 mAh battery that should easily last over a day of regular usage. The battery supports 44W wired charging. Connectivity options on the handset include 5G (eight bands), Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth v5.4, GPS, and a USB Type-C 2.0 port.

  • The baseline variant with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage costs Rs. 13,999.
  • The mid-tier version with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage costs Rs. 14,999.
  • The top-tier version with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage costs Rs. 16,999.
