0

Xiaomi’s forthcoming flagship smartphone, Mi 7, will have the brain of Qualcomm’s latest chipset, Snapdragon 845. This makes the firm, aka the ‘Apple of China’, one of the first devices to experiment with the industry’s most advanced processor on their phones.

The development can be seen in the light of last month agreement between the Qualcomm and Xiaomi when the former visited China to ink a $12 billion deal with the Chinese smartphone makers.

Calling Qualcomm Xiaomi’s “most important partner,” its CEO Lei Jun, who was present at the Qualcomm’s launch of 845-chipset, said that the MI 7 will indeed feature the latest processor. He didn’t reveal details about the flagship Mi 7, but he did talk about its relationship with the chipset-maker.

He said, “Six years ago, we launched the Xiaomi Mi 1 using Qualcomm’s processor, which was the best at the time. Over the years, the flagship phones all adopted the top-tier Qualcomm processor.”

Not much we know about Xiaomi’s upcoming smartphone, but it is rumoured that the flagship phone will feature a 6.0-inch Samsung-made AMOLED display with thin bezels and be available in two variants – 6GB and 8GB of RAM. Xiaomi is likely to unveil the device at Mobile World Congress.

Talking about the Snapdragon 845, the processor by Qualcomm succeeds Snapdragon 835 and will be featured in 2018 all flagship devices. The upgraded processor will offer much-improved performance, better power efficiency, and improved image processing. Just like its predecessor, the Snapdragon 845 Chipset will feature a 10nm manufacturing process and will be manufactured by Samsung Foundry.
