It seems only yesterday when Samsung bounced back with its innovative and sort-of-revolutionary flagship dual – S8 and S8+ – and we are already talking about their successors.
It’s always hard to build on huge successes but if recent rumors are anything to go by, Samsung has some pretty interesting stuff lined up for the next big S. Here is a list of attractive features that you might see on Samsung Galaxy S9 early next year.

1. 90% Screen-to-Body Ratio
A new report indicates that the Galaxy S9’s screen-to-body ratio could be as high as 90 percent, compared to 84% screen ratio on Galaxy S8. This means that the bezels around the screen on the S9s will be narrower and it may give the device’s design to a whole new direction.
2. Enhanced Iris Scanner
Samsung Galaxy S9 will have an enhanced iris scanner to take on Apple’s Face ID. Samsung is likely to boost both – its Face Recognition software and hardware – for its next-generation flagships. As for the front camera, S9 and S9+ are rumored to stick with the 8MP sensor with AutoFocus.
3. Snapdragon 845/Exynos 9810
Samsung has allegedly called dibs on the entire first batch of Qualcomm’s next year flagship mobile platform, the Snapdragon 845. Which implies, it will retain its competitive edge for the entire year and other manufacturers will be forced to push their flagships for later.
Of course, in India, we will get the comparable Exynos 9810 chipset. Further, the chipsets will be backed by 6GB RAM, which should be sufficient enough to run the phone with ease.
4. Stereo Speakers and Headphone Jack
Both Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ will have Stereo-speaker and a dedicated 3.5mm headphone jack. Renders shows that the jack is on the bottom edge of the phone alongside the charging port and speaker grill. To enhance the sound quality, Samsung will get the Stereo-speakers and the earphone bundled inside the box tuned by AKG.
5. Substrate Like PCB
Samsung has already started sourcing vendors for a Substrate like PCB for its next phone. The new PCB technology is said to double efficiency while connecting key components like DRAM, AP, NAND Flash, etc. in a layered design. And since it occupies less space, Samsung will have more room to plant a bigger capacity battery.
6. Bokeh shots without dual cameras
The Samsung Galaxy S9 will have “SuperSpeed Dual Pixel 12 MP” single sensor on the rear panel, reveals the phone’s retail box. This implies that the Galaxy S9 won’t get dual camera setup but more importantly, Samsung is offering f/1.5 to f/2.4 variable aperture lens for the primary shooter. The variable aperture lens will help with fast focus and adding pixel 2 like bokeh effect using just one camera sensor.
7. Super Slow motion Videos
Samsung’s uploaded Galaxy S9 camera teaser hints that the handset will have super slow-mo video recording capabilities. The teaser is backed by a report which suggests that the both Galaxy S9 and S9+ camera will shoot slow-motion videos at 720p up to 960fps using a stacked camera sensor (just as the Xperia XZ premium).
8. Experience 9.0
Both Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ will run on Samsung’s latest Experience 9.0 UX. The custom UI will be applied on top of Android Oreo, making them the first Galaxy device to run the latest Andriod flavor out of the box.
9. 3D Emojis
Samsung will introduce its own 3D Emojis on Galaxy S9 and S9+ to take on Apple iPhone X Animojis. However, the 3D emoji are not going to be exactly same as Animoji, rather a mix-up of Animoji and Bitmoji. Also, Samsung Emoji will allow users to create cartoon versions of their own faces rather than having to pick from pre-selected characters to animate.

Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus Release Date
It is official that Samsung’s next flagship phone, Galaxy S9 and S9+ will be unveiled on February 25 – a day ahead of Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018. The Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ India launch is expected to happen in the first or second week of March 2018.
