Samsung’s virtual assistant, Bixby, which debuted with their Galaxy S8+ and Galaxy S8 smartphones, could soon receive a vital upgrade in the form of Bixby 2.0.
The development came close on the heels of Bixby’s new appointee, Chung Eui-suk, who now heads both the English and Korean version of the virtual assistant. If things go as per plans then the Bixby 2.0 could roll out as soon as October 18 – the same day Samsung has scheduled a developer conference in San Francisco.

Bixby 2.0 ‘Expected’ Features
The second gen Bixby won’t only see bug fixes, but will also see a set of commands that better integrate Samsung phones with third-party Apps, products, and services. It is being speculated that with Bixby 2.0 you can connect to smart speakers and TVs, using voice commands.
Samsung launched the Bixby with a vision to take on Apple’s Siri and Google’s Assistant. The South Korean voice assistant can pull some amazing stuff that the other voice assistant, out there, can’t do. It can respond to both touch and voice and has the ability to translate as many as 52 languages, where Apple can only do 30.
It’s also quite good at decoding complex instructions. It’s command over the phone’s software and hardware allows it to do a series of tasks on your phone rather seamlessly. For instance, you can ask it to simply “open gallery app and add the first 10 photos in a separate folder”.
However, despite all these pros, Bixby has its shortcomings. It is slow, can’t understand context, isn’t great with translations, and has a difficulty catching foreign accents.
