TL; DR
  • Apple’s CEO Tim Cook shared a post via his official X (formerly known as Twitter) account, teasing the launch of a new iPhone.
  • Although the CEO didn’t reveal the product’s name, we strongly believe it could be the new iPhone SE.

We’ve been hearing about an impending iPhone SE update for a long while. A couple of minutes ago (at 09:30 PM IST), Apple’s CEO Tim Cook shared a teaser animation via his official X (formerly known as Twitter) account. “Get ready to meet the newest member of the family,” Cook writes in the post on the microblogging platform.

A New iPhone Is On The Horizon: Check Launch Date Here

Cook has also mentioned a date — Wednesday, February 19 — which could be the launch date for the purported iPhone SE. Interestingly, the post is accompanied by a hashtag that reads “AppleLaunch” and not “AppleEvent,” indicating that Apple could drop the phone through a press release.

The teaser animation, though, doesn’t reveal much, as it contains the company’s mascot in a shiny silver finish, with waves flowing through it.

Is It The iPhone SE 4 or the iPhone 16e?

Although the CEO didn’t reveal the product’s name, we strongly believe it could be the new iPhone SE. However, “newest member of the family” could also mean that the company is gearing up for a rebrand.

Think of it this way: iPhone 16 is the latest family of devices the company has for sale. Further, there have been rumors that Apple is considering renaming the iPhone SE the ‘iPhone 16e.’ Hence, we could, in a very real way, get a new iPhone model that belongs to the iPhone 16 family, similar to how Google has the ‘A’ series and Samsung has the ‘FE’ series.

However, there’s a chance that this could be the slim iPhone or the ‘iPhone Air’ that certain rumors claimed to be in the works. Either way, we’ll get a new iPhone between the iPhone 16 and the iPhone 17 that will come out later this year. Stay tuned for more updates on the new iPhone and other rumored Apple products that could launch soon.
