As the CES 2025 is about to begin, different consumer tech brands from around the world are showcasing their latest innovation across products. One of the most unique devices this year, though, is from the Chinese company called Roborock. Ahead of the CES 2025, Roborock has unveiled a new robotic vacuum cleaner and mop. However, unlike previous models (or other options in the market), this one has a robotic arm that extends from its top.

Roborock Saros Z70’s Mechanical Arm Can Remove Obstacles While Cleaning
Yes, you’re reading it right. The Roborock Saros Z70, the first of its kind home cleaning device, looks like a regular robot vacuum cleaner until it extends its mechanical arm called OmniGrip and starts removing obstacles in its path. The five-axis robotic arm is making all the headlines for the right reasons. The arm has a camera, some precision sensors, and an LED light.
As the device detects an obstacle, the arm unfolds, picks up objects (weighing up to 300 grams), and removes them from its way. You’d wonder what things the robotic arm on the Saros Z70 can pick, and the answer isn’t that far-fetched. It can pick up items like towels, socks, tissue paper, handkerchiefs, and other light items.

The Vacuum Cleaner Picks Stuff Up And Puts It In The Right Place
The robotic arm doesn’t just remove the items from its path, but it can also place them in their proper place, like a laundry basket (programmable via the app). While the robotic arm is the unique selling point of the device, something that appeals to avid users and enthusiasts alike, for some odd reason, the company has kept it disabled by default. Even so, buyers should be able to activate the feature through the Roborock app.
Besides the robotic arm, the Saros Z70 features Roborock’s latest StarSight Autonomous System 2.0. Fancy terms aside, the navigation system lets the robot vacuum cleaner map its environment better and, in the process, detect any possible obstacles more accurately. On top of a traditional Laser Distance Sensor, the device features a new dual-light 3D time-of-flight (ToF) sensor, along with RGB cameras.

Roborock Has Also Equipped The Device With AI
Combining information from various sensors and processing them using machine learning, the device can detect up to 108 obstacles. Besides the headlines-making features, the device has a suction power of 22,000 Pa, a FreeFlow brush, a liftable side brush, and a dual anti-tangle system. Moreover, the Saros Z70 is a high-tech vacuum cleaner with an industry-first mechanical arm.
The Roborock Saros Z70 will be available in February 2025 for buyers in the United States. Its price, however, might be too steep for some buyers: $1,600; that isn’t as convenient as having a mechanical arm on a robotic vacuum cleaner, though.
