This Is What Facebook’s Dislike Button To Down Vote Comments Will Look Like

The “Dislike” button has finally made its way to the Facebook platform in the form of ‘downward arrow’. Reports are that the social networking site is testing the new feature on some Australian and New Zealand users. Through this button, users can downvote and upvote a comment.

The Dislike button appears next to the “Like” button on public page comment threads, which means you can’t use it for posts. But, it is still an effective way to regulate public behavior on the platform and report any inappropriate statement or information. There is no timeline as to when the Dislike button will be available for all.

When a user hovers over the arrows on the comment posted on a public page, a small window will appear explaining the feature. It will read “support better comments”, and explains how to give a comment an “up” vote or “down” vote.

Press the “up” arrow if you think the comment is helpful or insightful, or press the “down” arrow if you think a comment has bad intentions or is disrespectful. This way a comment can be ranked on the basis of what readers believe is important rather than the comments that get the strongest emotional reaction.

Facebook’s purpose for the dislike button is to clamp down fake news and make the social networking platform more meaningful and informative. It is similar to Reddit but the “Like” option exists separately from the arrows.

“People have told us they would like to see better public discussions on Facebook, and want spaces where people with different opinions can have more constructive dialogue,” Facebook said in a statement.
