Sony India is gearing up to launch its first 8K LED TV in the country, Z8H, on October 5, 2020. The 8K TV was first showcased at CES 2020 and comes with HDMI 2.1 which is essential for gaming in higher resolution and at high refresh rate. The Sony Z8H will be PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X ready.

Sony Z8H 8K TV Features, Highlights

The Sony Z8H 8K TV is currently at the top of the company’s SmartTV lineup and boasts of a powerful Picture processor X1 Ultimate which is twice as fast as the X1 Extreme processor.

The brand is expected to offer the 8K TV only in 85 inches of screen size, which makes sense considering the 8K resolution. The Sony Z8H features a Full-Array LED-backlit display along with X-tended Dynamic Range PRO with local dimming. It will include an 8K TRILUMINOUS Panel with support for HDR 10, Dolby Vision, and Dolby Atmos.

For sound, Sony will back its Acoustic Multi-Audio system for a fulfilling experience. It includes two mid-range drivers, two subwoofers, and two tweeters.

Coming to the software, Sony runs its 8K TV on Android TV OS with access to Google’s Play Store library for apps. It comes with 16GB of internal storage. Connectivity-wise, it includes four HDMI ports and three USB ports. It comes with built-in Google Assistant and support for Apple Airplay as well as Apple HomeKit. With Alexa Skill, one can configure it to respond to Amazon’s virtual assistant as well.

What about 8K content?

Currently, there’s very limited 8K content available in India. Having said that, it is likely to pick up pace in the days to come. Youtube at present has the biggest library of 8K content. OTT platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+ Hotstar could also bring 8K content on their platforms in the future. The Sony Z8H has an upscaling feature that claims to upscale existing content for the 8K panel.

Sony Z8H price in India?

The Sony Z8H price details will be revealed on October 6. Listing on the Sony India website has a “price on request” label. Being among the first few 8K TVs in India, it will be expensive for sure.

The Sony Z8H will be only the third PS5 ready TV after 55-inch KD-55X9000H & 65-inch KD-65X9000H TVs in the country.
