Report Confirms The Name Of PS5’s Successor
According to a Dealabs report, the upcoming PlayStation console could be called “PS Pro.” Given that there have been multiple rumors around the same, it seems likely that the mid-generation update will carry the ‘Pro’ moniker instead of shifting to a newer generation altogether. Citing the popular leaker Billbil-kun, the report shares an illustration of the upcoming gaming console.
As seen in the illustration, the PS5 Pro features three stripes on the faceplates. On the front, there are two USB-C ports located near the power button. What’s worth noticing is that the illustration seems to be missing a disc drive. Even though there’s a chance that it could belong to the console’s digital version, the leaker isn’t sure about it. Nonetheless, the overall design and form factor remains similar to the current PS 5.

Sony’s PS5 Pro Could Go Official In September’s First Half
From what it looks like, Sony could sell the device without a disk drive, but the console would still support external disc drives, like the PS5 Slim. In the box, the PS5 Pro will still ship with the current-generation DualSense Controller. The leaker also provides some information about the console’s launch. While there has been some chatter about a possible PS5 Pro launch at the end of September, there’s a chance that the console could launch in the first half of the month. The report cites Jeff Grub and his prediction about a State of Play showcase that could take place in late September.
