Sony IMX586 was the staple image sensor for many mid-range handsets. But with changing times, the competition has bounced back. Thus, mobile photophiles and spec-nerds out there were obviously looking forward to the successor from Sony. Then yesterday, out of blue, shots taken from the Sony IMX686 sensor surfaced on the company’s official Chinese social media page. And now, reports circulating on the Chinese websites give us a few probable phones that could use this sensor.
Upcoming Phones with Sony IMX686
Here we have listed down the said phones along with the other details we know of them so far.
1. Oppo Reno 3
The third generation Oppo Reno flagship might ship with a 60MP Sony IMX686 image sensor. This will likely be a part of a quartet. The leaks have disclosed internals such as Snapdragon 735 SoC, coupled with up to 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128/256 gigs of UFS 2.1 storage, a 4,500mAh battery backed by 30W rapid charging.
Moving above, it could don a 6.5-inch full HD+ 90Hz display. It’s too early to say whether we will see the return of shark-fin pop-up.
2. Vivo X30 Pro
Vivo X30 Pro is expected to flaunt a quad-camera panel with a 60-megapixel primary sensor. This is probably the Sony IMX686 sensor. But, that’s not just the exciting news about the phone. It is announced to arrive in the month of December running on Samsung Exynos 980 SoC. This chipset has an integrated 5G modem and a dedicated AI support on board. On the optics front, the chip is compliant with up to 108-megapixel primary sensor on a camera setup that can have up to five sensors.
3. Huawei Nova 6 5G
The Huawei Nova 6 renders and key device details have already hit the web. From the render, we know of its quad rear camera setup, which could be led by a 60MP Sony IMX686 sensor.
It’s been spotted in multiple colors including the Red one above. The distinct design aspects are its punch-hole camera up front, Nova pattern and logo at the back. The front screen might stretch 6.4-inches with full HD+ resolution. Its power button is said to act as a fingerprint scanner. Under the hood, a 4000mAh battery is expected with 40W fast charging support. And yes as evident from the name, it would be a 5G phone.
