Qualcomm has recently introduced two new Snapdragon series processors for budget and mid-range smartphones. The processors are being dubbed Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 and Snapdragon 4 gen 1 processors. the naming patterns have been adopted from the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor.

Both the SoCs are created for providing a smooth performing environment for mid-range and budget smartphones. Speculations are that we will get to see the first smartphone carrying the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 processor in the first quarter of 2023. On the other hand, we can get to see a phone carrying Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 next week as iQOO is planning to do so.

Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chipset details

The Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 is an octa-core chipset with a Kryo CPU and a max speed of 2.2GHz. It is created on the 4nm node and offers 5G support too. As claimed by Qualcomm, the chipset is 35% more efficient than other Snapdragon 6 series processors. It comes coupled with the Adreno graphics processing unit (GPU). The name of the GPU is still not revealed yet and we are too waiting for the same.

The processor is integrated with X62 5G Modem-RF System with up to 2.9Gbps peak download speed. It also has support for FHD+ resolution and support for 120Hz refresh rate. In the optics, the smartphone could support up to 200MP primary shooter with the ability to record 4K video at 30FPS. Other important features are Qualcomm Sensing Hub, Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+, LPDDR5 RAM, Qualcomm 3D Sonic Sensor fingerprint scanner, Qualcomm 3D Sonic Max, and more.

Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 chipset details

The Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 processor is specially created for budget smartphones. The chipset is based on the 6nm process along with Snapdragon X51 5G Modem-RF System integration. It also supports sub-6 GHz connectivity. The processor also delivers 15% better performance in terms of CPU and 10% better performance in terms of GPU as compared to other processors in the same series. This one by Qualcomm also supports FHD+ resolution along with a 120Hz refresh rate. Other features include LPDDR4X RAM, FastConnect 6200, dual-band WiFi, 2.5 Gbps 5G, Adreno GPU, Qualcomm Sensing Hub, and more.
