Qualcomm has officially announced the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 and Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 platforms during its Snapdragon for India event. Both chipsets use a 4 nm process and target affordable and mid-range 5G smartphones expected later in 2026.
Snapdragon 6 Gen 5
The Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 sits in the mid-range segment. It uses an octa-core setup with 4 performance cores and 4 efficiency cores, with peak clock speeds reaching 2.6 GHz. Qualcomm says app launches are now 20% faster, screen lag is reduced by 18%, and GPU performance improves by 21% over the previous generation.

It also brings some higher-end connectivity features into this segment, including Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0. The chipset supports up to 16 GB LPDDR5 or LPDDR4X RAM along with UFS 3.1 storage. On the display side, it can handle FHD+ panels at up to 144 Hz.
Camera support goes up to 200 MP, and Qualcomm is adding features like Night Vision and 100x AI Zoom. Gaming features include Game Super Resolution and Adaptive Performance Engine 4.0. Peak wireless speed goes up to 5.8 Gbps, though USB support still stays at USB 2.0 speeds.

Snapdragon 4 Gen 5
The Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 targets the budget and entry mid-range category. It comes with 2 performance cores and 6 efficiency cores, with peak clock speeds up to 2.4 GHz. Qualcomm claims a much bigger 77% GPU improvement this time, along with 43% faster app launches and 25% lower screen lag.
One of the bigger additions here is support for 90 FPS gaming, which Qualcomm says is the first time this has come to the Snapdragon 4-series. The chipset also supports FHD+ displays at up to 144 Hz or HD+ panels at up to 120 Hz.
Camera support goes up to 108 MP, though AI camera features remain more basic compared to the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5. Connectivity includes Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.1, with peak wireless speeds reaching 2.8 Gbps. RAM support is limited to LPDDR4X, while storage support includes dual-channel UFS 3.1.
Qualcomm says phones using these chipsets will start arriving in the second half of 2026. Brands like realme, OPPO, Redmi, and vivo are expected to launch some of the first devices powered by these platforms.
