Apple’s iOS 18 is perhaps the most customizable version ever. While you can place an app icon anywhere on the home screen, you can also change how icons look. And that’s not all. With the latest operating system for iPhones, users can also customize the Control Center in a way that wasn’t possible before. We’re talking about the size and position of controls, adding or removing them, or adding more Control Center pages.

Change The Size And Position Of Icons In Control Center

Change The Size And Position Of Icons In Control Center

To increase the ease of access, you can now increase the size of controls in the Control Center. So, if the flashlight button is too small, you can increase its size by entering glowy mode (similar to how the home screen elements jiggle when you make changes). Similarly, you can change the position of the controls. So, let’s say you don’t want the music playback control to be at the top right. In this case, you can drag and drop it in another direction. By default, the other controls will take its place, but then you can realign them to get the desired look.

  • Head to the Control Center by swiping down from the top right corner.
  • Press and hold on the empty space toward the bottom of the Control Center.
  • Now, use the resize button (which appears at the bottom right corner of every control) to drag and drop and increase the control size.
  • While some controls can expand in larger square-shaped controls, others can also expand vertically. The only two controls that aren’t eligible for resizing are the ones that adjust the brightness, volume, and focus.
  • While you’re at it, you can press and hold an icon to pick it up from its place and drop it wherever you want it to be.

Add Or Remove Controls From The Control Center

Add Or Remove Controls From The Control Center

You can add a control to any Control Center screen with space. By default, the first screen (which houses the volume and brightness sliders) has some empty space toward its bottom. There, you can add whichever shortcut you choose from the available options. Similarly, if you don’t need a shortcut on the Control Center, you can delete it and free up the space.

  • Access the control center by swiping down from the top right corner of the home screen.
  • Press and hold on the empty space to enter into the editing mode.
  • Tap the “Add a Control” button toward the bottom, and select a control you want to add from the next screen. It could be the magnifier, the control to scan code, a stopwatch, or any other control from the next screen.
  • As soon as you select a control, it will appear in the next empty space on the Control Center page. You can change its size and position by following the steps mentioned in the first section.
  • On the other hand, if you wish to remove a control from the Control Center, select the minus button that appears at the top left corner of the control.

Add, Remove, or Reorder Pages From the Control Center

Add, Remove, or Reorder Pages From Control Center

With iOS 18, Apple has added multiple Control Center screens or pages (up to 15). By default, the home page contains the favorite controls (that have been there for years). However, the next Control Center page contains an expanded version of the music playback control, with the option to play/pause music or change to the next or previous track. Then, there’s another page that expands the network control options. While the Control Center pages might feel like a hassle at first, they can simplify things for users who don’t really use all the controls and curate a specific page for the ones they use.

  • Open the Control Center and hold an empty space with your finger.
  • Scroll to the last Control Center page and swipe up to enter a completely empty and customizable screen.
  • Hit “Add a Control” toward the bottom of the screen and select the required control to be displayed on this screen. This way, you can add a Control Center page without disturbing the others.
  • If you wish to remove a Control Center page, like the one that expands on the network settings, or any other screen for that matter, just tap/hold an empty space and hit the minus button toward the top left of the control. If a large control occupies the entire screen, you can remove it by pressing a single button. However, if there are multiple small controls, you’ll have to remove them one by one.
  • To reorder the Control Center page, enter the edit mode, drag on a control on the required page, and then drop it before or after the page you want it to be.

There you go! Seven ways to customize your iPhone’s Control Center the way you like it. Of course, they are based on the iOS 18 public beta 1. Hence, some steps might change as Apple releases the stable version in September. However, rest assured, we’ll update the article if any changes are required.
