The Galaxy S25+ (review) used the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy; the regular Galaxy S26 (review) used Exynos 2600. While non-Ultra models have toggled between Exynos and Snapdragon chips, Samsung has consistently favored customized Qualcomm chips for its top-tier Ultra variant. However, that trend might change in 2027, with the arrival of the Galaxy S27 series.
A report from SEDaily, a South Korean publication, suggests Samsung is working on its next flagship tier chipset, the Exynos 2700. The report also claims the chipset has outperformed Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and Gen 6 Pro (the company’s upcoming chips) across CPU, GPU, and AI benchmarks. It is also said to be more power efficient.

The Numbers Samsung’s MX Division Is Reportedly Sitting On
On Geekbench 6.5’s multicore CPU performance test, the Exynos 2700 scored 19% higher than the standard Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6. It also maintained a 9.5% score margin over the more expensive Pro variant. While those were CPU-related numbers, GPU testing returned similar results: a 5% lead at peak output, increasing to around 22-24% once both chips were throttled to a strict 2.5W power consumption ceiling.
While the scenario might look a bit over-controlled, it closely mimics the restricted daily usage condition of smartphones. The report claims Samsung’s new chip drew just 161mA in simulated daily use, against 185mA for Qualcomm’s Pro silicon, which, yet again, is a substantial difference.

Why The AI number Might Matter More
Running Meta’s Llama 3.1 8B model on likely a prototype device, the Exynos 2700 generated responses 18% faster than the Snapdragon flagship. Given that all smartphone companies are running after on-device AI compute as something to show off during launch event, in marketing materials, and basically pitching their entire new smartphone for, the numbers matter more than ever.

Samsung has officially confirmed that the Exynos 2700 chip exists and is aimed at “top-tier” phones. However, the company hasn’t corroborated a single benchmark number mentioned here. Further, this could be Samsung’s own internal test, run on Samsung’s own terms, something that you should keep in mind.
I’d personally treat this as promising, but not conclusive until I get hardware to test in my hand, one that represents devices that will be available commercially on a mass scale. What makes this leak worth watching is that this is the second straight generation where Exynos numbers have looked genuinely impressive, at least on paper.
