Samsung, the technology leader, has been developing its Galaxy XR Glasses for some time. Recent reports suggest that the company may unveil these glasses at the Unpacked Event in January 2025, coinciding with the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Series. It is anticipated that the XR Glasses will be presented as a prototype during this event, created in collaboration with Google. However, customers will not be able to purchase the XR Glasses immediately following the announcement.

A report from 9to5Google indicates that Samsung plans to unveil only a teaser or an image of its XR glasses, with a comprehensive launch scheduled for mid-2025, coinciding with the release of its foldable devices. This approach mirrors that of the Galaxy Ring, which was initially presented alongside the Galaxy S24 series and officially launched in July.
Samsung XR Glasses are set to be unveiled in January, while the technology leader may launch an Android-based XR software platform in collaboration with Google and Qualcomm in December 2024. This platform is intended to support Samsung’s XR Ecosystem.

Reports indicate that Samsung’s XR Glasses are expected to weigh approximately 50 grams and will resemble conventional sunglasses in design. Notable features of the XR Glasses will include payment capabilities, gesture recognition, natural language processing, real-time data analysis, human detection, and AI-driven facial recognition.

9to5Google reports that the Samsung XR Glasses are expected to utilize the Qualcomm AR1 chipset, which is also found in the Ray-Ban Meta glasses. These glasses are said to include a 12MP camera for video recording and will be equipped with a 155mAh battery. Their functionality is anticipated to seamlessly connect with Galaxy smartphones and Galaxy Watches.
Samsung intends to produce 500,000 units in its initial batch. In September 2024, Qualcomm’s CEO, Cristino Amon, alluded to the development of smart glasses, suggesting they would differ from the Apple Vision Pro and be more portable. Further details about the glasses are expected to be revealed during their debut presentation in January 2025.
