Earlier today, Samsung held its inaugural Galaxy Unpacked event for 2025, during which the company unveiled the Samsung Galaxy S25 Series of smartphones. In addition to introducing the latest flagship S-Series, Samsung hinted at the forthcoming addition of a fourth model to the lineup, named the Galaxy S25 Edge. While the primary focus of the event was on smartphones, Samsung also surprised attendees by briefly showcasing the XR headset and presenting the upcoming Project Moohan XR Headset in a tangible format.

Speculation surrounding Project Moohan has been prevalent for some time, and it was recently showcased for photography at the event. Upon initial observation, it bears a resemblance to Apple’s Vision Pro headset, while also incorporating features reminiscent of Meta’s discontinued Quest Pro.

Project Moohan XR Headset

Samsung has announced its collaboration with Google to develop an XR Headset, which will operate on the Android XR OS specifically tailored for headsets and smart glasses. The company aims to release the XR headset in late 2025, initially targeting developers before making it available to consumers. Currently referred to as ‘Project Moohan,’ the final product name may differ. This initiative is part of Samsung’s strategy to tap into the rapidly growing market for immersive 3-D content.

This marked the inaugural presentation of Project Moohan to consumers, featuring a headset anticipated to be equipped with the enhanced Snapdragon XR2 chipset found in the Meta Quest 3. This advancement positions it as a more powerful option compared to many leading headsets currently available. It is evident that Samsung is responding to the challenges faced by Apple’s Vision Pro, which has encountered difficulties in several areas since its release.
