Samsung’s next-gen foldable devices – Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 and Z Flip5 are expected to make their debut in the second half of 2023. The timeline for the Galaxy Unpacked event is sometime between July and August 2023. Talking about the latest rumors, both the foldable phones are expected to don new image sensors albeit the sensor size will remain the same as that of its predecessors.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5, Z Flip5 To Don New Image Sensor

According to the update coming straight from Yogesh Brar (a trusted source), both Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 and Z Flip5 will feature the same number of camera sensors as before. In fact, the Z Fold5 will get a 50MP primary, a 12MP ultrawide, and a 10MP telephoto camera that we have seen with the Z Fold4.

On the other hand, Galaxy Z Flip5 will get a 12MP primary and a 12MP ultrawide snapper which is the same as Galaxy Z Flip4. Turns out Samsung will keep the sensor sizes the same for the duo although there’s a surprise.

Apparently, both devices will get new image sensors. The foldable phones from the South Korean giant have been lagging behind in the camera department, however, the upgraded image sensors will bring a much-needed improvement in the shots. The upgrade will be a promising part although we are not aware of further details.

Both the foldable devices will get a new water-drop hinge design, unlike the U-shaped hinge it uses now. It is designed to reduce the visibility of the creases and follows the same mechanism as that of Oppo Find N2 Flip.

Moving on, Brar added that the outer display mounted on Galaxy Z Flip 5 will be a tad bit bigger at 3.4” whereas the current-gen device has a 1.9” display. It was recently spotted on a mockup although it requires further reports to back the same.

With that being said, both the foldable phones will have a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC at 3.36GHz max frequency. It is a custom-made SoC from Qualcomm that was seen on Galaxy S23 series. The Fold5 will get a max of 12GB RAM while the Flip5 will get 8GB of RAM onboard. There’s Android 13 OS with OneUI on top.

Available color options for the Fold5 are Light Blue, Black, and Beige while the Flip5 is backed with Light Green, Light Pink, Grey, and Beige.
