Over the years, Android tablets have been more often than not overlooked as smartphones got bigger and powerful. The new Galaxy Tab S6 is, however, a feature-packed Samsung tablet that will take on Apple’s iPad Air Pro. It carries the capable Snapdragon 855 chipset, which engines many of the top-end Android phones of 2019. Other interesting additions include the trendy on-screen fingerprint scanner and a utilitarian S-Pen.

With this new release, Samsung aims to bolster creativity, productivity and let you do more than you could on any Samsung tablet before.

Upfront, it exhibits a 10.5-inch WQXGA Super AMOLED display and an 8MP selfie camera stationed on the forehead. The display has an embedded fingerprint scanner. There is a double-tap to wake feature as well.

At the back, you get dual cameras including a 5MP 123-degree ultra-wide sensor. The primary one’s a 13MP shooter. You also get AI enhancements for your photos.

The audio is delivered by quad speakers tuned by AKG and Dolby Atmos. You can use the S-Pen, which sports remote-control based Air actions to take selfies and videos or control the multimedia content from a distance. The S Pen features 0.35mAh cell with wireless charging which according to Samsung, ‘delivers up to 10 hours of battery life after just ten minutes of charge’. You just have to simply insert it into the back of the tablet.

The tablet is equipped with Samsung Dex, which lets you seamlessly move your work-instance into a PC. Tablet S6’s new Book Cover Keyboard brings a dedicated Dex key, an S Pen holder, free-angle stand, touchpad, and new function keys.

A major draw is the Snapdragon 855 processor, aided by Game Booster with AI capabilities. Other internals includes up to 8GB RAM with 256GB storage (expandable up to 1TB) and a 7,040mAh battery with Fast Charging support.

You get all these packaged in a 5.7mm slim metal body.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 launched

Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 comes in Mountain Gray, Cloud Blue, and Rose Blush colors. It will be available in online and offline stores from late August in select markets.

It is priced at 699 Euros (around Rs. 53,465) for the 6GB RAM with 128GB storage with WiFi support. If you go for the LTE version, you have to pay 779 Euros (around Rs. 59,560). At the same price, you could also go for the 8GB RAM with 256GB storage with WiFi support.

Then there is also an 8GB RAM with 256GB storage LTE version, which costs 859 Euros (around Rs. 65,700).

If you think think the hardware is overkill for a tablet or for your individual needs, Samsung also has a mid-range Galaxy Tab S5e that you may consider.
