After a while, we have a new M series phone- Samsung Galaxy M40 (review), which has launched in India. M40 brings a refreshing touch to the current lineup of Galaxy M trio. It brandishes an Infinity-O display, a slim and sleek form factor, Snapdragon 675 SOC and One UI software.

Samsung Galaxy M40 features

Upfront, Galaxy M40 sports an Infinity-O LCD display that stretches to 6.3 inches with a 1080 x 2340 pixels resolution. There is a 16MP (f/2.0) selfie snapper residing within this punch-hole on the display.

Rotate to the rear and you get a similar vertical camera arrangement and fingerprint reader like the Galaxy M30. The triplet comprises a primary 32 MP sensor (f/1.7),
coupled with an 8 MP (f/2.2) 12mm ultrawide sensor and finally a 5 MP (f/2.2) depth sensing unit.

Unlock the device to interact with the software experience of One UI. This runs over an 11nm based octa-core 2GHz Snapdragon 675 chipset aided by RAM up to 6GB. You get a maximum of 128GB onboard storage expandable up to 512GB via a micro-SD card (hybrid). It draws fuel from a 3500mAh battery that supports a 15W fast charger.

Rest of the features include Bluetooth 5.0, Face Unlock, USB-C port, Dual-SIM (Nano-SIM, dual stand-by) and a basic slew of sensors. While the phone is Dolby Atmos compatible, the 3.5mm headphone jack is absent. A unique quirk of this phone is its “Screen Sound” technology that transforms the display into a speaker. You also get a dedicated button to enable voice assistants and Widevine L1 certification.
