Ahead of its official launch on March 11, 2024, the Samsung Galaxy A55 5G is available for sale in Germany. Yes, you got it right. The smartphone is actually available to purchase from a major German retailer. Additionally, the lower-end Galaxy A35 5G is also up for grabs. While there’s a good chance that anyone who orders these smartphones won’t get the units at this moment, the listing still reveals the European pricing of the smartphones.

Samsung Galaxy A55 5G German Price

The Samsung Galaxy A55 5G (128GB) is available on the German website Otto for EUR 479, or about Rs. 43,000. The 256GB variant is listed for EUR 529, or about Rs. 48,000. It is important to mention that these prices are closer to what several leaks suggested previously. However, since these are not the official pricing, there’s a good chance that the phone’s local and global costs could differ.

For the price, users get a 6.5-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED screen with 120Hz refresh rate, an Exynos 1480 SoC, and up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Regarding cameras, buyers will get a 50MP primary sensor, along with a 12MP ultrawide and 5MP macro sensor. Powering the phone is a 5,000 mAh battery that supports 25W wired charging. Moreover, the Galaxy A55 5G looks like a repackaged Galaxy A54 5G but with a newer processor.

Even though Samsung could lower the price in India, let’s consider the leaked pricing and find out what phones offer in that range. If you tap the “Mobiles” tab at the top left of this page and set the minimum and maximum pricing in the pane to the left, you’ll see many handsets in the segment. For instance, there’s the OnePlus 12R (review) that runs on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, which is leaps and bounds ahead of the Exynos 1480 SoC. Similarly, there’s the new iQoo Neo 9 Pro 5G (review) that runs on the same chipset. Obviously, both these phones have decent cameras and batteries.

Hence, if the Galaxy A55 5G arrives in India at such a price, it might be difficult to recommend the smartphone to someone, especially those who are budget-conscious.

Samsung Galaxy A35 5G

The Galaxy A35 5G’s base variant, with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, is listed on Otto for EUR 379, which is about Rs. 34,000. However, this is the only variant listed on the website, which is slightly confusing, as we’ve heard rumors about another model with 8GB RAM, which could cost EUR 459, which is about Rs. 41,000. Even though the Galaxy A35 5G will be more affordable than the A55 5G, it still costs more than competing smartphones.

A smartphone that’s slightly less powerful than the OnePlus 12R and the iQoo Neo 9 Pro 5G — Nothing Phone (2) (review) — costs Rs. 36,999 and offers 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Hence, even though the Galaxy A35 5G could be a great affordable smartphone, especially with the One UI operating system that Samsung phones ship with, the pricing will significantly impact its sales.
