Samsung has been bouncing back to hit Xiaomi’s Redmi series and the rest of the competition in the mid-range segment. The pattern seems to repeat with the lower-tier Android Go powered Samsung Galaxy A2 Core, which would soon hit the shelves. Now that the device user manual itself has surfaced online, let’s jump straight into the device details.

Let’s begin with the device’s build and design, which is evident from the schematic given in the user manual.

The phone distinctly ditches the fingerprint scanner but keeps the headphone jack. A2 Core would have the power key and the volume rockers at the right side, while the micro-USB port at the bottom. The navigation bar would be software-based.

Galaxy A2 Core is expected to sport a 5-inch LCD display with 540 x 960 qHD resolution. Under the hood, it might carry the power of octa-core Exynos 7870 chipset, which in itself makes it powerful against the other Android Go phones.

The camera department might showcase a 5MP (F/1.9) camera on the back.

In the user manual, we could find illustrations of single as well as dual nano SIM models. When both the cards are activated, you could assign voice calls, messaging, and data services to specific cards. We would appreciate if the dedicated micro-SD slot arrives in the official release.

Android (8.1) Go is what makes it this low-tier phone attention-worthy. It is a trimmed down version of Stock Android that’s specifically optimized for its low-end hardware. You could experience an ecosystem of Go series of apps downloadable from the Play store. They are the “lite” version of Google’s popular apps meant to run on low-end devices.

Apart from these, you could also download the lite versions of popular apps like Facebook Lite, Messenger Lite, Twitter Lite, Ola lite, Uber Lite, Tiktok Lite, Mint (browser) Lite, etc from the Google Play store. So, you could use all of these without pushing the device’s hardware limits.

Now, like the Redmi Go, this one too would pack some custom features to optimize the experience like Samsung Max. You could monitor and reduce your mobile data usage by preventing background apps from using the mobile data connection. You can also use the data compression feature to compress Internet data, such as images, videos, and webpages, accessed via the mobile network.

As far as the endurance is concerned, this one could be running on a 2600mAh battery

Another nifty feature would be Samsung Smart Manager, which as the name indicates helps to manage the storage, battery, memory and overall performance of the device. It could even feature a native Radio FM app for all audiophiles out there.

Samsung Galaxy A2 Core would touch the barebones and basics of smartphone experience. So, it would be out in a price to match that said experience. Only when the device is official, we could compare whether it could take on the Redmi Go (review) phone.
