Update 28-2-16: Ringing Bells will refund money for the initial 30,000 orders placed. It will accept cash on delivery for all orders.
Ringing Bells bell has finally ranged on the issue of payment gateway troubles which it faced during its 3-day booking window for Freedom 251. To compensate on the booking debacle the company has agreed to accept Cash on Delivery from customers who placed their Freedom 251 order last week.

The Noida-based start-up grabbed all headlines with the controversial launch of world’s cheapest phone which is priced at measly Rs. 251. As per company claims, it has received more than 6 crore registration worth Rs 1.75 crores in a three-day long registration window.
Ringing Bells made the following announcement on their Facebook Page: “In furthering our service to you, we, at Ringing Bells, have decided to offer “Cash on Delivery” terms vs the previous Offer of via “Payment Gateway”!! By this, you, our esteemed Customer, will be required to make payment only when the phone is delivered to you. We are in the process of compiling the emails and issuing these to first 25 Lacs registrations very soon. We express our sincere gratitude for your kind support and look forward to your continued patronage. Assuring you of our best intentions Regards, Freedom 251 Team.”
In another issue, a government official busted company’s make in India claims and revealed that Ringing Bells will import all 50 lakh handsets instead of assembling them in India. Department of Electronics and Information and Technology (DoT) has summoned Ringing Bells President Ashok Chaddha and Promoter Mohit Goel on Monday after alarm bells ranged by customers and Industry analysts over company veraciousness.

Company has also run into trouble with its BPO service partner who has accused Ringing Bells of cheating and fraud. Cyfuture, the BPO company, claims that Ringing Bells isn’t honoring their contract and are defaulting on paying their dues. Freedom 251 manufacturer has rebutted these claims and blamed Cyfuture for its incompetency to handle calls of its customers.
Now we have to wait and watch whether Ringing Bells raises above all these controversies or sinks with its deeds.
