TL; DR
  • Tipster Yogesh Brar has revealed the chipsets expected on the global Redmi Note 17 lineup.
  • Xiaomi has started teasing the Redmi Note 17 series in China ahead of its July 14 launch.
  • The Chinese Redmi Note 17 is rumored to pack a huge 9,000mAh battery.
  • India launch is currently expected before Diwali.

The Redmi Note 17 series is right around the corner, and we now have our first look at the chipsets Xiaomi is preparing for global markets. According to tipster Yogesh Brar, the global lineup will look something like this:

  • Redmi Note 17: Snapdragon 4 Gen 5
  • Redmi Note 17 Pro: Snapdragon 6 Gen 5
  • Redmi Note 17 Pro Max: MediaTek Dimensity 7500

Yogesh also says the series is currently scheduled to launch in India before Diwali.

The chipset choices are a bit underwhelming on paper, especially for the Redmi Note 17 Pro and Redmi Note 17 Pro Max. The Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 and Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 sit below what many people would probably expect from phones in these price brackets, although that isn’t particularly surprising coming from the Redmi Note series anymore.

China Launch Happens Next Week

Xiaomi has already started teasing the Redmi Note 17 series in China, with the launch set for July 14. The teasers also give us an early look at the phones themselves. The regular Redmi Note 17 appears to feature a single rear camera setup, while the Pro model features a dual-camera design.

Xiaomi has also confirmed a massive 9,000mAh battery for the Chinese Redmi Note 17. Whether that battery makes its way to global markets remains unclear, as Xiaomi has occasionally shipped smaller batteries on international variants in the past.
